Breast Enhancements Make for Better Sex, Survey Shows
Women Who Get Surgical Breast Enhancements Report Having More Satisfying and Frequent Sex, According to RealSelf Poll
SEATTLE, WA -- Feb 1, 2012 -- Breast enhancement surgeries are reportedly improving more than bust lines. According to a new survey* that polled women who had undergone breast implants and breast lifts, participants claimed a 34% increase in overall sex life satisfaction on average, and also claimed to have more sex post-procedure.
The data was collected by RealSelf.com, the largest online community for sharing and learning about cosmetic surgeries and treatments. According to the poll results:
-
61% of women claimed they had sex more frequently after their breast plastic surgery, while only 7% claimed to have fewer sexual encounters
-
On a scale of one to ten (one being the least satisfying), participants experienced more than a two point increase in overall sex life satisfaction -- the average pre-procedure sex life satisfaction score was a 6.07, and the average post-procedure sex life scored jumped to an 8.13
- 70% out of respondents said their overall sex life satisfaction improved after the procedure, with 28% of patients noting their sex life went up by four points or more based on the one to ten scale
"The poll results are not surprising. I see a transformation in what patients wear and how they carry themselves in the office after having a breast augmentation," commented Dr. Andrew P. Trussler, M.D., a plastic surgeon in the Dallas area, and Plastic Surgery Assistant Professor for the University of Texas. "In my personal observation, women definitely feel more confident after the procedure, and you can easily see how that improved confidence will lead to improvements in other areas of their lives."
A patient's overall satisfaction rate for breast enhancement procedures ranks high. According to hundreds of breast implant reviews and stories posted to RealSelf.com, 7.5 of 10 women who have had breast implants claim it was "Worth It," and spent an average of $6,600 on the procedure. Surgical breast lifting, which costs $10,000 on average, was similarly satisfying -- the "Worth It Rating" shows 8 of 10 women would do it again.
In the United States, nearly one million women have received breast enhancement procedures in the last three years, and it currently ranks as the most popular cosmetic surgical procedure nationwide**. At www.RealSelf.com, more than 6.4 million consumers searched for information on breast augmentations in 2011 alone.
