Dr. Scott Tucker is a board-certified plastic surgeon and president of Salem Plastic Surgery in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Dr. Tucker knew from childhood that he wanted to be a doctor and became fascinated with surgery in medical school. He ultimately chose plastic surgery because “the profession affords me the opportunity to do what I love most—perform surgery and care for my patients. The creative aspect of working with each individual patient, whether reconstruction or aesthetic, combines my artistic nature with the opportunity to practice great medicine,” he says. Dr. Tucker often jokes that he “graduated from the 27th grade” because that’s how many years he was in school to become a plastic surgeon. He earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri, where he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed six years of residency training: four years in general surgery and two years in plastic surgery at Bowman Gray Center for Medical Education at Wake Forest University. He also completed a fellowship in cleft palate and burn reconstruction at the University of Southern California–affiliated Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center. Board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Tucker is a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, as well as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. A past president of the North Carolina Society of Plastic Surgeons, Dr. Tucker has also served as chief of plastic surgery of Forsyth Medical Center and Medical Park Hospital in Winston-Salem.
