A: There are various approaches to achieve the ideal balance of the lips. Fillers, Botox and other neurotoxins, and even surgery can all be utilized to achieve the ideal lip appearance. For the downturned and overriding lateral upper lip, filler in the lower lip and central upper lip can improve balance between the lips, and possibly a small amount of Botox can improve lip position by relaxing the muscle above the lip. Lastly, fillers in the corners of the lip can help support and even turn up the outer corner when done correctly. Best of luck with your facial aesthetic journey.
A: Packing is sometimes used after nasal surgery, but it must be removed or there is a risk of infection. It is quite rare for it to be 'lost' or fall out.
I do not use packing in nasal surgery - it is often uncomfortable and does not affect long-term results in my experience.
A: It is not uncommon after nasal surgery to have discharge from the nose, occasional bleeding, and even some light headedness. The sensation of a lump in your throat could be due to the anesthesia - either the breathing tube or a small injury to the uvula (the thing that hangs down in the back of the throat)
Your surgeon will have more information for you at your post-operative visit.
A: Thank you for the question about Botox treatments. I have had many successful patients who respond to therapy for both of the conditions you describe, although not everyone qualifies based on your insurance and symptoms. Be sure to see someone with extensive experience in the use of Botox for therapeutic purposes.
A: Hello! Thank you for your question. Laser treatments like Laser Genesis are not permanent, but they also do not wear off after a few months the same way that Botox or dermal fillers do. Laser Genesis treatments trigger your skin’s repair processes, so your skin is renewed and restored as new skin cells form and fresh collagen is produced. When your Laser Genesis treatments are complete, you are left with healthier skin. However, over time, the benefits of Laser Genesis will fade as your skin’s natural process of cell death and collagen breakdown begins again. If you are older and your natural collagen production has slowed, you will start to see the wrinkles and lines reduced by Laser Genesis reappear. We typically recommend regular Laser Genesis treatments every 6 months to help maintain your results.
Acne scars do work a little differently since the laser treatment can help get rid of old scar tissue and replace it with healthy tissue. It depends on the extent of your scarring, but with the right number of Laser Genesis treatments and a good skincare regimen, you may be able to see very long-lasting benefits for this type of concern. You should consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate your skin and help you decide if Laser Genesis is right for you. Good luck!
