Can uneven swelling affect nostril shape/width?

Hey there, I underwent rhinoplasty Feb 2 2010 I've read on here that uneven swelling is to be expected after rhinoplasty, can this happen with the nostril shape/width as well? Yesterday I had my splint removed and I have been advised to tape the bridge.

After cast removal I noticed beautiful symmetry of my nostrils head on as well as from below. Today I noticed more flare in my right nostril head on and from underneath it looked all distorted and larger. It looks different from what it used to look like. Is this normal? I dont have any before photos sorry.

Thank you for posting this. I just had rhinoplasty two weeks ago and I have the same exact problem. My nostril on one side has almost no flare what so ever and the other has a very noticable flare. The side of my nose with the noticeable flared nostril also looks a lot more swollen on the tip then the other and also the tip feels harder on the more swollen side. How long did it take for your uneven swelling to subside and for your nostrils to become more symmetrical?

For those who were curious..For me it WAS indeed swelling for the most part. They are still slightly uneven but not to the degree in the photo. Your nose morphs into so many different shapes post op for several months. One day your nose will look small then the next day it will look 2x bigger. I also heard that there is sometimes a reason for one nostril being bigger than the other being that the Doc has to choose one nostril to make an incision upon and then stretch over the bone with it. Anyways the best thing to do is try not to worry about it until at least 6 months

I had rhinoplasty done 11 days ago - it was septoplasty with the rhinoplasty too... Thing is I kknow it is swelling etc - but there is a slight dip in my nose below the bridge which wasn't there before.... But my main concern is my uneven nostrils.... I thought Septoplasty would correct this but they look EXACTLY the same - very uneven one nostril stops a lot higher and Im so upset as I spent so much money to get them fixed... Is it just swelling or because this part wasn't operated on

I had an open rhinoplasty 2 weeks ago to remove a bump of deformed cartilage from the left had side and had a stitch put in the tip to make it appear less bulbous. Now there appears to be a bump on the right side which wasn't there before and my columella is very swollen on left side so my nostrils look very uneven. Can the swelling of the columella still go down dramatically between 2 weeks and 6 weeks post op? I have a wedding in a month and am concerned! Thank you.

***** Update: The night I posted this I woke up to myself (unconsciously) picking at my nose! I was really prodding at it because I guess I had my nasal passage blocked when I was sleeping. Could this have caused it? I'm also noticing more visible tissue now on the right side than on the left where the incisions were. Did I compromise the shape of my nose in my sleep?!
