Does the Tattoo Vanish method of tattoo removal work?
By jd29 on 31 Dec 2012
I have been looking into getting a tattoo removed and came across a place that does the tattoo vanish method where they tattoo the area and apply an all natural saline based solution, let it sit for 10 minutes, wash it off and it supposedly draws the ink out with the scab that forms. Has anybody heard of this method or do you have any information on it? I have been searching online and can't find anything bad. I checked the better business bureau and they have a rating of A-, no complaints. Please someone give me some insight on this.
Which doctor is it?
Also, you should post a review with pictures showing your results.
I didn't see him listed on RealSelf. I'm guessing this is him on Yelp, is that correct? Looks like people have had some real mixed experiences there.
We have seen a few patients that have come into our office after using tattoo vanish. They had used it multiple times and they described what you have described: they inject the solution into the skin and it forms a scab and after the scab falls off, the tattoo is supposed to be lighter. Well, for these patients, the tattoo didn't get lighter and more importantly, they have formed scars due to constant irritation of the skin. Now we are removing the tattoo with laser treatments, but the scars left over from the tattoo vanish are a problem. If you decide to try it, be sure you find someone good and make sure you are not left with a scar. Hope that helps a bit.
I haven't heard of the method. However, I can't help but think of the age old saying "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is." Also, if this was an effective method I would expect the dermatologist would be offering it to their patients. Do you know the qualifications of the person actually performing the treatment?
