Lets talk nipple size and placement!

By LexiLouLee on 04 Dec 2011

HI Ladies :D   So, now that I had to delay until summer due to the docs holiday schedule I have had a lot of time to think.... and an alarmingly arge percentage of my thoughts are about nipples :p   I am noticing that different docs size and place the nipple VERY differently, and I have realized that this is a lot of what draws me to one doctor over another.... For example, the doc I chose (who's work I am obsessed with) always seem to create very small areolas (I'm guessing they are probably about the size of a quarter on a breast that looks to be a B cup and a quarter and a half on a D cup), and he tends to place them high and a bit further to the sides then other docs (of course this is slight, and would be hard to notice if you hadn't been seriously comparing work for a long time). The slightly more to the side thing makes sense since they place them along that line, and the higher points are more to the side...   Anyway, after all this analysis I decided that rather then show my doc a pic of a model in a bikini I needed to show him a naked breast that represented what I wanted and sure enough, I selected all pictures with very small, high, slightly wide nipples. A month ago I never would have put this preference together, I just liked some work and not others for intangible reasons.    So, ladies, what did you tell your docs about nipple size and placement preop? Did you have a strong preference or not? If you're still pre-op, have you figured out what you want? What is it?    I would kind of like to post example pics, but I'm not sure what the rules are about that...

I had a slightly different issue: my nipples were pointed almost sideways before the surgery. My PS said he could move them more centered/facing forward, the way the majority of women's do. I said "Wow, you can do that?" He replied, "Yes, and if you want it done, now's the time to say so." So when I said yes, he made sure to mark the new location before the surgery and get my approval. Apparently they do have some leeway regarding placement, and you should not be shy about voicing your opinion. You're the one who's going to live with the outcome, after all!

How interesting! As you can see from my before pictures mine do that too! Good to know they can be corrected a bit, although, like Lexi, I do tend to like slightly wide nipples the best. Maybe just because it is what I am used to looking at.

Ooh, it's too late for me to pick nipple size or placement (six days post op), but mine appear to be very cute and small. They're under a bunch of tape until tomorrow, so I'll know then. They're very nicely positioned though, and seem super perky.

I'll report back!

My PS gave me the option. He had these little template things and he asked what size I wanted my nipples to be. I had not realized I would have that choice! I said I wanted the smallest size and he told me that almost all of "his girls" want that. And he called it size 4 (not sure why) Then when he marked me he measured from my collarbone on each side and from whatever length he went place the center of the nipple template there. Mine look very natural, sit slightly to the outside(interferring with cleavage is not a problem) and most importantly no longer point south!

I am pleased you say that, I agree, nipples in the cleavage is not hot. So I am happier now about mine, not in the cleavage but higher than I have seen before. But then again I have not seen that many!
I recon they are almost an inch up from pointing down if you know what I mean!

I would be careful, it is one area that I am unsure of. Mine seem to be high and perky but actually if I wear a low cut bra, the areola is almost visible at the top.
So take care if asking for them not to be pointing down, if you are very big to start with, it may not be possible to do it without having them too high.

I worry about this too Aitchocov! I see the nipples that are so high that they look like if you were to wear something requiring cleveage there would be nipples in in the cleveage! Not hot :/ But then, I also like breasts with very high nipples so I am torn.

i never really put much thought into the size or placement...i just didn't want them pointing to the ground...and i put a lot of trust into my dr knowing ehat would look best plus i have (had? not sure yet) an inverted nipple on my left breast so if that is fixed then i will incredibly happy. if not then oh well, i know they are not pointing at the ground anymore and that makes me happy!

Haha, yep, I agree that perkier will be better! Do you find though that when you are looking through doctors work there is something you are more drawn to then other things? Is there a common theme in the docs that make you go "that's nice" vs. the ones that make you go "ewwww".

i found i was looking more at size in proportion to the body size...and the different scarring incisions...i have keyhole and think it will be good.
