Anyone who’s had some type of surgery knows that the anxiety kicks in on the last couple of weeks before the big date. Here are some tips and ideas for calming those pre-surgery nerves.
Take a hot bath using some Lavender Epsom Salts in the water. Dr. Teal’s are a good choice. A good soak at night with some soft music will help you relax prior to bed. This helps greatly in getting a good night’s sleep.
Meditation.
Chamomile, green or peppermint tea are refreshing and calming. Of course caffeine free is recommended.
Schedule a spa day. Nothing feels better than a great massage. If you are not one who likes a body massage, go for the foot or scalp massage. Either way this is guaranteed to calm you.
Get out of the house and treat yourself to a nice lunch and good movie. Stick to a comedy for endless laughter. Keeping the mind occupied is a perfect way to forget about your fears.
There are foods that help fight stress. Stick to a diet that contains raspberries, asparagus, avocados, blueberries, cashews, dark chocolate, garlic, grass fed beef, oatmeal, oranges, oysters, and walnuts.
Acupressure points. Learning the basic points is something that you can perform all on your own.
Get a good night’s sleep. Proper rest makes everything feel better.
Participate in the RealSelf Forums. Talking with people and not bottling everything up is a must.
Breathing Exercises. Sit in a quiet location, focus on your breathing and visualize your happy place.
