Lifestyle Lift recovery. How fast and normal results?

33
helpful points

I had a Lifestyle Lift on July 12. Today, July 18.  I am still experiencing swelling and pain especially on my right ear. The swelling is very hard and is causing me discomfort when sleeping. Is this normal?

How long does it really take to recover from the life style lift procedure? Do you have any reviews or comments regarding this procedure?

I had the Lifestyle Lift in Philadelphia on September 5th and it turned out fine. After 3 days I was off medication and on the 7th day I had my stitches removed.

the incision area was pink and tender for about a month buy my hair covered it up. But that is expected---it takes a while for the redness to go away when you have surgery.

I think that you have to know what to expect from cosmetic surgery and this was not bad at all.

I had breast augmentation in the 90's and it was a million times more traumatic than this.I had a neighbor who had a full face lift procedure around the same time and she was laid up for a full month.

I just thought the Lifestyle Lift wasn't bad at all and I got good results---so I would do it againg in about 10 years.

I agree - it's very important to ask questions so you know what to expect.  I also had a great result and would do it again.

Hi
I would like to know, looking back will you still have done the procedure and is it lasting? I have heard that it last anywhere from 6 to 18 months...is this true?
Regards

yes, even less than that. When my swelling went down, I was back to me..

How do you look now? Six to eightteen months? Not years? How long does it last? Debora

I have scheduled this procedure two times but can't seem to go through with it. I don't know anyone who has had it or have a seen a real person's face, instead of a photo. I would do it in Santa Ana, Ca. with Dr. Lee. How was your experience?

Don't do it. Go find a real plastic surgeon. I had a mini-lift and not only were my eyes cut differently, he left a bag of fat above one eye. My EARS got much longer and hurt all the time, I could not even wear earrings. I went thru the LSL guarantee or should I say NO GUARANTEE. I found the surgery to be very painful and noisy, crunchy sounds, very disturbing. I just had my surgery re-done with a board certified plastic surgeon. All of it. It cost me about $1000 more than I spent with LSL and now I look great.

I am in Pennsylvania and considering going to Philadelphia for the LifeStyle Lift. Could you please give me more info on when you had it done? I am very undecided.

editor comment: Here are Philadelphia lifestyle lift posts as well as Plymouth Meeting LSL posts.

I am think of having the lifestyle lift but I would very much lke to hear from someone who had it done, lets say about 2 or 3 years ago, and do they still like their look now. If there are any people out there who could respond to this particular question, I would surely appreciate it. Thanks

I had the lifestyle lift in May 2006. The face and eyes.
My face has stayed pretty muc in place but my neck has gone back to its original state and my upper eyes have dropped down slightly. I am considering having another lift just to get my neck right but Life Style was not interested in doing it. I think I still look somewhat younger than before the surgery.
good luck...

i'M JUST CURIOUS....Are you still satisfied 2 years later with the way you look? Am thinkin about doing it, but still not sure. Hope things are going great with you. Please let me know what you think. thanks

My surgery was in East Syracuse on May 7, 2008 and I am still satisfied. My only problem remaining is pinkness under my eyes from the laser. My ear scars are practically invisible and my jaw line and eyes look MUCH better. If you do it, take your own before and after photos so you can really compare front, and each side, close-ups. I did and I can really see a difference.

I'm considering a lifestyle lift at the East Syracuse location.
They seem very over anxious to get me to do it.
how were you trated? I'm also concerned that the doctor isn't a board certified plastic surgeon? What are your thoughts and experiences?

Hi
I just got the lifestyle lift (east syr) last thursday. 7/24/08 ~ It will be one week tomorrow. I went back to work yesterday. By the 2nd day I was fine and pain free. Dr H is the best surgeon you could ask for. VERY SKILLED. His staff is just as good. Make sure you ask questions that are concerns of yours. Once I went for a consult I decided to do it. What made me decide? One day I took my own pics of my neck along with the front and side views. Oh I certainly needed it. He did a wonderful job. My sutures come out tomorrow. My family states I look 10 years younger. If you would like to talk further I will help you. You need to do it for you! Remember that! I highly recommend Dr H. No doubt.
Best Regards! SG

Where did you have this procedure done? I went to Maitland, fl and am very interested in having it doen. However, I['m a bit aprehensive.

Find a board certified plastic surgeon and compare prices. After my LSL, I had to have the entire thing redone, eyes were cut differently, one missed the crease of the eye completely and a bag of fat was left above one eye. LSL had no intention of helping me out with any of my problems. They were interested with me as long as I had money to spend with them. After that, they kicked me to the curb and even wrote me a letter stating that I should seek different medical help. Get it... A shrink. And by the way, to have the LSL redone cost me about $1000 more.

Did you have the surgery? I have scheduled mine for the end of August but after reading this site I am concerned. I wonder if the results are as short term as many people say. Please let me know if you had it done and if so what you think now.

hi, how did your lifestyle lift go???

Is it worth the surgery and how long does the lift last?

Do not have it done. Go to a reputable plastic surgeon. The pain and results are not worth it.

I agree with you. If I had know then what I know now, I would not have let them touch me with a plastic spoon. I would not have done it if they had done it for free. I was treated very poorly. I had to go to a board certified plastic surgeon to have my face fixed, was put to sleep. 3 days later I looked better than 5 months after the LSL. I don't know why they push the being put to sleep as being so much safer. It was awful having to listen to all the crunching and trust me, it was painful.

Please tell me about scars and length of time this procedure will last.

My surgery was May 7, 2008 and I am now about 7 weeks along. My scars started in my temple right at the edge of my hairline and extended right along the edge of my ear, just under it and right behind my ears and then they jog out about one inch into my hair. A little hair was shaved where these are but I have shoulder length hair and it is covered up and growing in at this point. The scars are pink and very fine. I dont even use make up over them, just wear my hair over them or down as usual. As for how long it lasts, gravity will still be at work. Just take care of yourself, use good face cream, avoid sun, dont smoke and I dont do any bouncy exercising any more - just treadmill, biking etc. I was 60 in April and this will be my only surgery so I want it to last a long time. My doctor said the average amount of skin removed is over an inch on each side so that is how much you can turn back the clock !!!

Yes but it is not a piece of cake. Plan to take a week to recover, have soft foods and someone to bring you new ice packs helps. There is discomfort esp until you have your sutures and staples out on day 7. Gravity will still pull your skin again eventually but my doctor said that the average amount of cheek skin taken out is over one inch so you are that much ahead. Dont smoke, avoid sun and eat right and it will last longer. I also dont do jogging or anything bouncy anymore - I walk a couple of miles per day though with a sun hat on etc to keep in shape. The outcome depends on the skill of your surgeon so I strongly recommend speaking with and seeing former patients if possible.

Did you have the lifestyle lift in Fort Lauderdale? Are you pleased? Which doctor? Thanks. Would appreciate your feedback.

Thinking about having a lifestyle lift in NYC 59th and Madison, can any one tell me if they had thier surgery at this site and what to expect if anyone has any suggestions as far as which Dr. is most skilled at this site PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP

RealSelf Editor - I republished this question in the NY lifestyle lift discussion; hope you get some insights

Hi, I recently visited with my aunt at a reunion after 25 yrs. She is 73. I thought how great she looked, her face especially for her age. Well, to my surprise and joy, my cousin told me she had a facelift -she was so down about how she looked - she went for it, and at lifestyle lifts in Manhattan, NY, By a {edited}, the offices across street from Barney's downtown. I have been considering a mini lift for my little jowls (I do not look my age nor do I smoke or suntan), my 60th is next year. Well, my aunt was very satisfied and looks fabulous; not that pulled look, just natural, and younger that her 73 yrs, a well preserved 55-60, as if she took great care of herself ( which she does). She had her very puffed lower eyes done, her jawline pouch, and some neck area- a balanced lift. First 4 days were in order: some pain, some ache, swelling etc. gradually gone after 2 weeks. However, the doctor did advise not to do both eyes same day, she went back for the other eye -that tells me the Doc is okay. One year later, fabulous at 73. I plan to meet with her again for deeper conversation before I decide. Hope this helped you.

I've looked through the LSL site and I can't find a description of the surgery.  Can anyone tell me where they cut?  I'm a singer like the other lady and I could not handle permanent unnatural tightness.

they say a small incision in front ou the ear. what u get is all the way around your ear, like they almost take the ear off, but don't. I have what they think will be permanent tightness, numbness& horrible pain.

Has your situation improved in your LSL.. I heard tightness, and numbness are normal after this type of surgery. Are you looking better than before and would you advise doing this again in a couple of years. I hope you are ok. I am thinking of having this done here in vegas, but am concerned about the cutting and lipo. I need lipo under my chin. did you have this done. I hope you can answer some of my questions. Regards to you.

My sister and I both had the LSL this past Monday the 14th, and I have taken pictures of my jawline daily. I was looking for some other pictures of peoples results, and like you I'm not finding any. If you send me your email address, I will send you the day after picture, but it might scare you a little. But I swear, I was talking thru the whole procedure, and the night of the surgery was a little rough, but even thru the brusing and swelling,as of this moment, I'm pretty sure I would do it again.

HOW ARE YOU AND YOUR SISTER DOING NOW? AND WHERE WAS IT DONE?

HOW ARE YOU AND YOUR SISTER DOING NOW? AND WHERE WAS IT DONE?

How old are you and your sister? Where did you have the procedure done?

Hi,
I'm thinking hard on getting this. Could you send me pics? (before and after?) Are the incisions really noticeable?
thanks so much

I am trying to decide on the LSL. I have an appt in April. Very interested in you pics and how you feel at this point.

Would you please send the picture to me {edited} I am having it done next wednesday. would you tell me how yours went Thanks in advance

Dear Kimberly , Can you tell me whether you and your sister are happy with the LSL. Since it has been a few months, do you still see an improvement? Some of the posts are very bad, they all seem to have had lousy results.. Just curious if you still have any pain and has your jowls or jawline dropped. Many thanks for any advice u can give me.

now that you are into almost 5 months later, what are your improvements, if any. Were you satisfied.? I hope you are ok and all this was not done in vain. Have you completely recovered and would you do this again down the road if you needed it. I am so confused after reading this site, that I truly respect your opinion since you have undergone this procedure. thanks for anything you can do to help me.

Debra I am following your comments...Where were these done?? I am thinking about having it and I am like you--these bad accounts are scaring me. I am looking at Dallas location.

Please share your pictures. I am scheduled for surgery in Charleston, SC on 9/8/08. Thanks!

I do not know how to download photos to this site. You can email me directly at {edited contact information} and I will scan them to you.

Kimberly,
I would like to see your pictures. A friend of mine is thinking of having this done.

It looks like the information on how this procedure is done is a top secret. All I can find is general phrases and before and after photos. Can somebody please help me to find out what is actually done to one's face and how is it different from the traditional face lift?

Thats cause they tell you a small incision in front of the ear& ity's almost totally all the way-front&back of the ear& down your neck. If you as LSL, they have a pre-typed form that has mumbo jumbo the average lay person doesn't understand, but maybe another dr will.

You are given a local anesthesia by a shot. Honestly I had my eyes done as well, and do not remember a thing, even how I got to the car after it was all over.
Then they cut from your temple along your hair line very close to your ear, under it, up behind it and sometimes jog out a little into the back of your hairline. ( I had a little shaving in these areas just before the surgery which was a surprise to me)
They pull the skin back from your cheeks and up from your neck and trim off what is not needed and then sew you up.
A traditional Face lift is much more extensive. You have general anesthesia - more risky- and your face is laid open and the muscles underneath your skin are all pulled, cut and tightened and sewn back together. Then your skin is pulled and trimmed and sewn back over this. The recovery is much more extensive as is bruising etc.

Ask one of the doctors at the Q & A tab at the top of the page.

Sharon from RealSelf

That's a very popular question! Here's a link to help explain things: How is a Lifestyle lift different from a traditional face lift?

Hope this helps!

Ladies go to see the NBC10.com website, watch the 3 segments I told Hank about.  If that doesn't help, they also have  video of a REAL LIFESTYLE LIFT SURGERY.  It's graphic but shows you what happens.  You are all right, they give no info on the actual surgery only the result.  In the office they do the 'face pull' to show you how you'll look, which did not come true for me and many others I now know after seeing the NBC story.

Be careful.

Hi Scarface,
I read on another post that you aren't a lady who had a face lift, but a lawyer who is pretending to be a lady. I must say, by reading your posts I'm suspicious too. Smells fishy to me.

Audrey, Who are you? I've been posting on several boards for about a year & the first & only tme I mentioned an attorney was about 3 weeks ago when we found him. I watched the segments on NBC10.com, maybe you should also. That's how I found the other girls from my area. Other NBC stations are running the reports too so now there's women from other areas as well. After complaining for almost 2 years we're all fed up with LSL's stall tactics. We believe they are designed to stall us long enough for our statute of limitation to run out. I never knew we had one until I met with the attorney. I feel for those girls that have been fighting the longest, some over 3 years, they are out of luck. Believe me, if I was an attorney, I would have sued them myself a long time ago. I believe this is just another desparate attempt by LSL to put people off. In fact, almost anytime anyone says anything bad about LSL there's someone on the boards that accuse them of being an ps or a lawyer. I believe LSL employs plants to post on al the boards in an effort to control public opinion of them & keep the girls with complaints separated.

Don't know if you are a lawyer or not, but what would be the advantage of pretending you are an unhappy LSL patient? I had a LSL and it was not good! I look the same as I did before the surgery except now I have the unwanted scars and discomfort. My surgery was a year and a half ago. What can we do to make a difference? I am familiar with the NBC 10 stories, but the women in Phila. have not been able to make a difference. I am not computer savvy, so it's hard for me to know how to begin. Have you any ideas you would like to share? I know that we can be powerful in numbers and that is probably what it would take to stop this type of thing happening to others. There has to be a way that we can find many others throughout the country if we just figure out how to reach them. Please respond.

Norma,

I'm with you! My LSL was a complete rip off. I would not recommend it to my worst enemy.

I paid $4000.00 for my LSL and 6 months later I look exactly like I did befor the surgery.

I was robbed and I am not alone. These rip off artists have gotten away with  this way too long.

This factory type cookie cutter surgery does not work MOST of the time.

They are aiming at middle aged women like me who would love nothting more than to look younger.

I did not go into this with unrealistic expections. I knew the results would be subtle, that is what I wanted.

However,  I got NOTHING, no results except the loss of a significant amount of money, trauma from having surgery wide awake, post op pain, and lumpy ears.

I am ready to take action. You are right, there is power in numbers!

I am ready to take action also.

Carol

OK, I am with you -- Power in Numbers, so now what do we do. LSL has gotten so big that they intimidate lawyers, other doctors, etc. And somehow they must be greasing the hand of some type of special interest group, how else could they keep doing this to us???

Read your post looking for people who had LSL. Im one,and not happy at all. Mines been 4 years now,and from like 7 months after surgery i looked the same. Sad part is only thing that didnt look the same is the scars,im now stuck with huge scars by my ears, white all the time, have alot of people notice and ask me what happened, feel like a fool telling them. They totally lie to you,how takes a hour to do,mine took the dr 6 hours. Had a freind with me to drive me home, they even had her come in and watch after she sat in waiting room for 4 hours. Then 5 weeks later,i was uneven,so they took me back in did it again to tighten, that took another 3 hours, and alot of pain each time. This place is a joke, and alot of woman are suffering money wise, pain and scars.

I will tell you what the advantage of pretending you are unhappy with your LSL procedure - MONEY!! This may not be your case, but cosmetic surgery is big, big business and the LSL is cutting into the profit of plastic surgeons all over the country. Face lifts are the cadilac of plastic surgery (probably because they cost as much). These doctors are not happy with anything that takes a cut of their profit. It is a matter of greed. I really don't know who is legitimate on this website, and who is not, but guaranteed some of these stories are coming from a place other than spreading knowledge of this procedure. It is a shame that you can't get honest feedback without the fear of some bottom-dwelling lawyer doing the bidding of their client no matter how unscrupulous. My advice would be to take the consult with a grain of sand and talk to as many people in the waiting room as possible.

It is not the money, it is the results which are not as promised. After 8 months I am still having problems with pain and a feeling of swelling let alone the fact that it looks like nothing was done.

I had the LL in Charlotte, NC on July 8th and the
the worst part has been the lumps and swelling uu
under my chin. I complained when I went back o
on day seven and was told it would disappear
in about a month. It*s been three weeks and
I*m not showing any improvement. Did you
have this problem too?

This is in reply to Miss Josie Gent (3 above) OK Miss Smarty Pants, you call around and try to find a lawyer that will take a LSL case. HA! I bet you can't. And as far as LSL cutting into the profits of LEGITIMATE Doctors, well, that just isn't going to happen. You see, What LSL does has to be fixed by somebody that has a brain and a degree to go with the brain. I am not pretending to be UNHAPPY with my LSL, I am DAMN unhappy with my LSL Nightmare. You see, if you take the time to read my profile, every word is true, I am not a lawyer, just some poor woman that got took in by the infomercial. Sounds to me like maybe you might be the LSL(ter) on here.

A little advice..
If you call, ask them to send the forms& do a complaint w/ their forms, You actually have 5 years& not a statuary limit. You must fill out the complaint form 1st to get the 5 years. The website to get it is
Division of Professional Regulation, ask for legal/complaints.I have a number 217 782-3414. This is my homestate number, but if you can't find that url under your homestate call the above number& I am sure they will direct you. If you still can't find it, call the medical association or Board of plastic surgery& ask them for them. U can also ck up on your Dr on that website w/ his license # which you can get on the LL lift page under BIOS under the Dr's name. You may also find it under their certificates. Look for your state.
Good Luck& email me if you have trouble.

Are you in the Philadelphia area? If so, do you have an attorney to recommend?

They are doing a CBS segment soon too. You will be hearing more nationally.

Can you give me more info about the lawyer and lawsuit?
I just read your post, and I am 2 1/2 years post op, and
VERY UNHAPPY! I suffered severe swelling and infection,
the procedure was painful, the recovery took several weeks
before I could even go out in public. The results vanished
in just a few short months, but the pain and numbness continue
to this day. Follow up care was non existant.

I think you are right about LSL having plants posting good things about the lift. I had my "LSL Nightmare" lift done on Dec 5, 07. My pain behind my ears never stopped until I had the entire lift redone by a real surgeon, board certified. I looked better 3 days after what he did than the whole time my LSL was on my face. I think the LSL folks need to be exposed. Safer because you are awake. Yes, you'll have the nightmares to prove it. I would not do another one if they gave it to me for free and topped it off with money to boot.

Hi Audrey

I was wondering why you would think Scarface was a lawyer? just because she feels the need to tell everyone what she experienced

dosen't make her a lawyer. I do believe  we all came in here seeking advice. We all had questions, including me. Scarface was just

telling you to read, watch , listen. Sounds like great advice.  It helped me to decide against the Lifestyle lift.  I watched NBC10.

Im not a lawyer! Im a woman who wanted a Lifestyle Lift.  But took the time to research.

Could you please tell me in which state the LSL had the series ran on them. I am very interested in seeing it.

Hi Scarface, if you read her story, its not any different then ous. We can't all make up the same stories verbatim. Geez

I had the lifestyle lift 5 days ago.  The only reason I cannot go about my regular schedule is because I also had liposuction on the neck and I am wearing a bandage around my chin to insure optimal results.  I had some pain the first day.  Now there is still minor discomfort and a slight ear ache.  I still have some swellng and brusing on the neck, but as soon as I get the stitches out in a few days., I will be out and about my regular schedule.  Time will tell as to how long the lift lasts, but for right now I am  very satisfied!

Hi teacher,

It is now April 2008, I just had the same procedure you did. Can you tell me, one and a half years later, how are you doing?

I am reading the posts of some very unhappy women and are hoping you might tell me happy news about yours!

Good or bad, please let me know!

Sherri

I'm 45 years old and thinking about having a LSL, I live in New Jersey, I have had a consultation and my doctor that would be performing the procedure is Dr. Sharma, has anyone had a LSL done by him before? If so how were your results and recovery. Thanks

Is anyone doing this procedure in British Columbia, Canada?

I have an appointment for a lifestyle lift in february. After reading some of the comments I feel a little apprehensive about it. Does any one have any experience with the office in Clayton Mo.?

Didi you have your procedure?  I am going on Monday and would love to hear from  you. thanks pam

My sister had hers done in Dec. and she looks great. I have an appointment in April. Did you have it done and how did it turn out?
I'm still very nervous.
carrol

I have heard of this procedure but I am not sure if I want to look into now that I have read so many negitive things about it. I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and I am 48 years old. Is there anyone out there who has had this done in Dallas or could recommend a good plastic surgeon?

This Dallas lifestyle lift comment was moved to the Dallas LSL forum section.

has anyone had the procedure done at the schaumburg illinois facility?

Did you find out anything about Schaumburg? I am scheduled there in 8 days.

My wife is scheduled for Saturday 7/14/07 and asked me to check on the procedure and doctor. She is going to the Schaumburg Illinois location and Dr.DeBartolo jr. Any feedback on the procedure and care by Dr. DeBartolot and the Schaumburg location would be appreciated. My wife did not want to read the postings on this site as she feared negative FB by a few very dissatisfied clients would scare her. She had breast reduction surgery previously and is aware of the pains of healing from cosmetic surgery (although her breast reduction was to aleviate back pain). Thanks

How long ago did you have the lsl? Did the choking sensation go away? What did your doctor tell you it was? Mine made no other comment than "it will go away". I had a lsl 4 weeks ago and have suffered with the same feeling. From ear to ear it feels like a tight rubber band over my throat and down my neck. It even makes me not want to eat because sometimes it feels like it gags me. How much longer can I stand this? Can it be losened?

No, 20 mos later& its still here, as bad as ever. They said No when asked if they put anyother surgical technique in there. All they say is,'It will go away in a yr& after I say it's 20 mos, I'm told some take longer.

Yes, I'd love answers. What did they really do to me?????????
I feel like I'm being choked from under my ears across my throat. Do they keep surgical records? My neurologist wants to know what waS DONE TO ME. i SAW ANOTHER pLASTIC SURGEON THAT BELIEVES THE GREATER AURICULAR NERVE WAS DAMAGE. i HAVE SHOOTING PAINS UP MY EAR & ALOTY OF WEIRD SENSATIONS. tHEY WON'T ANSWER MY CALLS. i EVEN HAD CORPORATE CALL ME STATING SHE'S CALL THERE& GET RIGHT BACK TO ME& IT'S BEEN 5 DAYS. tHE WHOLE SIDE OF MY FACE, BOTH, ARE NUMB ,AS WELL AS MY EARLOBES. mY STITCHES BEHIND THE EAR ARE COMING THRU MY SKIN. mY JOWLS ARE ALREADY APPEARING& i WAS TOLD IT LASTS 7-10 YRS!
tHANKS

SHOULD I DO IT OR NOT? I AM QUITE NERVOUS WITH THESE PEOPLE

What is the choking sensation. From ear to ear and over the throat it feels like a tight band. What is it and how long does it take to go away?

I don't know, except I have it. Maybe a muscle tightened too uch? They won't say anything except, it will go awy. Read post above

I am considering LSL and live near the Schaumberg facility. What can you tell me about the doctors and results at this facility? any info will be extremely helpful.

Hi Lori R. Did you or any one have the LSL done in the Schaumburg, IL location? I am scheduled to have the lift, lipo on my neck, and both upper and lower eyes done in March of 2009. The doctor they put me with is {edited}. I am trying to found out if anyone has any personal experience with him or if perhaps someone prefers another doctor at that particular location. I would appreciate any info that anyone can give. Thanks, Kathy

Because I am considering the LSL here in vegas, I am hoping you will be completely honest with me as to how you view the LSL. Having been employed by them at one time (I assume not now) can you tell me whether or not it is worth doing. Are these people on these blogs all telling the truth do you think. Sounds like they ALL had a bad experience. I consider your opinion valid since you worked for them. thanks for any help you can give me

I am considering the surgery
neck/chin in schaumburg and would dearly love
to hear anything
like does it last
costs
reality!!!!!!

I HAD HAD THE LSL DONE A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO. NOW I'M CONCERNED ABOUT TWHAT APPEARS TO BE DENTS BY EARS, IS THIS NORMAL PART OF HEALING, DOES ANYONE KNOW.

What wraps? I was bandaged only. No wraps, nothing. No calls to check up on me& when I called w/ a problem, it too 2 days fpor them to call back/ I think I have nerve damage& the nerve damaged is one they know is ther& know to steer away from. I am in constant pain, hve one earlobe completely sewn shut, the other lobe is semi-normal. I had a botch job& they won't even talk to me anymore., Be real careful

I had the procedure done on 1/22/07, and yes, I did have the "dents" that you mention. I have used warm to hot compresses every night, and after the compresses, I do quite a bit of massage on these areas. It took a couple of weeks, but as of today (3/10/07), the dents (and bumps) are completely gone. I will say that there is still numbness in the areas on the sides of my face and ears. The surgeon has advised me that they may last for a long time, possibly years. I'm hoping that the massage will help alleviate this some of the numbness.

Please let me know how you are doing, and if the "dents" get more unnoticable.

I had my surgery done 12 days ago. The Dr and Tech assured me I would be fine to go to my Class Reunion one month from the date of my surgery. I had my doubts, but they really reassured me, so I did it. Now 12 days later and with all my swelling, I am now on my 2nd packet (6 days more) of Prednisone , a steroid that is suppose to help take the swelling away. Hope this packet works better than the 1st one. I look like a chipmunk with a black eye. I can't go out unless I go to a dark movie. I use the heat packs too. I dont think they are helping wiht the swelling, but they do make the throbbing better. No one had mentioned MASSAGE to me. Do you use an oil or creme and do u massage lightly or moderately? I will be willing to try anything and I do not want to have this redone and go thru another recovery period!! Do you mind me asking where yours was done? Thanx! Nan

For the lady going to the class reunion - use alternating hot
and cold packs, sleep propped upright and wrap up in the ace
bandages as much as you can, (even day time when you can).
Lightly massage your face (use a light oil or face cream)
to stimulate the accumlated buildup of fluid under your
skin so it will disperse away from your face. (don't pull
the skin around the scars)
Make up - I used Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish it is a
combo foundation that conceals really well.
Good Luck! It was over 3 months for me to feel comfortable
in public.......... not what they advertise

Where did you have it done? I am looking at Dallas

Yes, they have supported your neck by using your ears. I had to have my entire lift redone including my ears. I had pain behind my ears like a constant earache. I suggest you see a certified plastic surgeon and see what he tells you.

Your sculptra question was moved to the wrinkle filler discussion.  thank you!

Anyone thinking of having a lifetsyle lift or wantinmg to know anything about it needs to get the Lifestyle Lift Diary. There are so many scams out here and forums that are actually lifestyle lift advertisements that it's sickening. Occasionally, you can find someone legit who has real information for people. This woman does. I can't recommend it enough

Rizza! Hi!

That is so weird I was thinking the same thing, and I just found that website that has her diary. Have you read it?? Did you order it?

I was reading some things off her site and it kind of made me think something had happened to her.

Just wondering

I don't get the lifestyle lift diary sites and video sites mentioned in this thread. They seem fishy.

too slick for someone who just wants to tell their story, they've got loads of ads, or they want us to pay to learn from their experience.

It's critical that people learn about LSL without fear they're getting some biased site that gets commercial gain by selling the information

I had the Lifestyle lift procedure done in Plymouth Meeting, Pa. on Sept. 14, 2004. I feel that they should being paying me. Your absolutely correc. I'm not going to elaborate. As you know the content will not be shown publicly.

you are one of the only people i have seen who had this surgery done in 2004. I hope you are ok now. can u tell me if the improvements are still intact or has everything just been a big waste of time. I thought this life is suppose to last. How long did it last for you? thanks for any light you can shed before i undergo this procedure

Can anyone tell me if they are an african american who have had this procedure? I live in Orlando, FL has anyone had this procedure done, if so please let me know.

Typical healing times for the lifestyle lift is 2 to 7 days. This depends on the health of the patient, and a number of other factors.

Every procedure is customized to each individual base on their age, medical history and amount of sagging skin.

It is always best to talk to a doctor rather than direct questions towards anonymous posters. Your case could be, and most likely will be, different than the next person.

Since pain and swelling is dependent upon each clients expectations, that too is subjective.
For instance, if you have had a cosmetic procedure in the past you might think the lifestyle lift isn't bad at all. However, if you have never had more than a cut on your hand, you might think a facial procedure is uncomfortable.

Again, rather than use a forum to get anonymous answers, wouldn't it be more reliable to simply talk to the doctor? You may need some patience as doctors are taking care of other patients, but it doesn't cost anything and you can get accurate answers.

I beg to differ.

My Dr or anyone from LSL won't call me back& I'm into the 9th month after surgery. I have a tightly sewn shut left earlobe& the right was sewn less& is somewhat freer. Had I not seen this site, I'd have believed the LSL people that you had to wait a year for the nerves to grow back& pain to go away. It all depends on the Dr you had, I am finding out..... I had to pay to get another opinion from a plastic surgeon, (mine at LSL wasn't, altho he said he was) I have to also see a neurologist to see if a major nerve was cut or permanently injured. That's more money from MY pocket. I am in pain, my jowls are back& I have turkey neck back on the LEFT . I followed directions to a fault! I am so unhappy. Through this site I've seen too many stories like mine& coupled w/ no callbacks, it scared me into seeing the other Dr.  I was told the LIFT would last anywhere from 7-10 years& here i am , just 9 mos post surgery. I feel misled, scammed & feel as if fraud was committed.

Not meant to scare you, just if you feel it's not right, keep calling or see someone else.

Personally I couldn't open my mouth to eat for 5 days after. My eyelid closed during surgery& I believe in my heart if I hadn't yelled, I would be in much worse shape. Luckily 5 days later, my eye went back to normal& I didn't have eye work done!

I even asked to see another Dr in the LSL practice, one I knew to be trained from day 1 in plastic surgery& they wouldn't allow it.

I was told that Dr wasn't available for a couple weeks& all I wanted was what they promised, get rid of the jowls& hanging neck, minimal pain, easy recovery& 10 yrs minimum lasting. I was expecting small cuts in front of the ears, not full length scars in front& behind w/ stitches that are making their way up through my skin& the permanent ones are just under my skin. It's creepy& scarey, mostly all is painful.

I hope you got the right DR. I pray you did.

Bitsy, you should conatact a lawyer and also if you can do a search for lifestlye lifts and you will see that nbc did a special on them i really think you should contact nbc.

Where did you have your surgery?? I went to Little Falls NJ yesterday and put a deposit down. I will be seeing doctor soon and want to have surgery - just the lift - nothing else in January.

were you happy with your procedure in little falls?

was there no availability before January?
Can you tell me about the consultation in Little Falls?

Where did you have your LSL done? I am considering it but really don't know much about it as I have not had a cosultation yet.

I just had some plastic surgery done..well a month ago. upper and lower eyes..jowl and neck area. I am not sure what the lifestyle lift is but my surgery took 8 hours and it sounds like what you had was the same thing...how can that be??? I would really like to talk to you

Bitsey, am just checking again to see how you are doing. I am still recovering and will be for at least 60 more days. but here again I had a conventional "mini" face lift. does the lifestyle lift just move skin or muscle? It really sounds like a face lift, but I just don't understand how they can do it in an hour and you can heal in 2-7 days. I am really just trying to comprehend this. If I would have heard of this before I had my work done I might have chosen differently.

Ask a doctor? The same doctor who wants the money your procedure will bring them? Gimme a break....

3 friends of mine were planning to do the LSL after listening to their Infomercials. When they compared their LSL doctors' biography (plastic surgery training, board membership, certification, number of similar procedures done, years in practice), with plastic surgeons who are Members of The AMERICAN BOARD OF PLASTIC SURGEONS, 2 of my 3 friends decided AGAINST LSL. If you want to educate yourself about LSL, look up The A.B.P.S. website for their requirements. Then google LSL doctors. Click the location of your planned surgery, and your doctor will come up. Click his "bio" and you will see clearly his education, board affiliation, certification, and year he finished his training. Compare his background to the A.B.P.S. requirements (www.abps.org), or to ANY member doctors of The ABPS, and you will be very surprised and perhaps frightened.

The LSL states "board certified" or "board eligible", but it's misleading because you don't know WHAT board, and if you learn what board, then you need to know if that particular board qualifies them to perform the very best plastic surgery. ie: many LSL doctors did their residencies in Otolaryngology and are members of that board... so BE THOROUGH AND DILIGENT in your investigation. Do you know what Otolaryngology is? Also, some are Osteopaths and members of that board. What does Osteopathy have to do with plastic surgery? (There are experienced plastic surgeons re-doing the mistakes that some LSL doctors are making.) There are some LSL doctors who are members of The ABPS and I have found one, so far, who is a member of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. However, most of the LSL doctors are not members of either. Also, many of the LSL doctors have finished their medical training in the last 2 to 4 years, which says that they don't have many years of practice.

Also, have a consultation with a doctor who IS a member of The ABPS, to get a full understanding of the procedure, before seeing the LSL doctor for a consultation. This way, you
