I am excited to say that I have finally decided to have a "Mommy Makeover". I have been wanting to have a breast lift for 6 years, but was afraid of the scarring, so I never made the plunge. After 6 more years of gravity and many significant "life happenings", I began dreaming again. I started out just wanting the breast lift, but after really thinking about it, realized that I wanted breast implants to give me some volume back to my breasts and a tummy tuck with liposuction to finish out my new and improved self! After obsessing over pictures, reviews, and websites, I finally chose 3 physicians with whom to consult. Now, to give some important background information, I had a pulmonary embolism (PE)/blood clot in my lung 1.5 years ago due to birth control pills. I have been cleared from that completely for over a year, but because of that, I carry a higher risk for subsequent blood clots. The first physician, recommended by a friend, recommended 3 separate surgeries and placing me on preventive Lovenox shots (to keep me from clotting) before and for a time after each surgery. He performs the Inverted T incisions for the breast lift/augmentation. The second physician was like the complete polar opposite of the first physician. He would complete the "Mommy Makeover" in one surgery, he completes a Doppler ultrasound to check for blood clots on every patient before and after surgery and doesn't recommend the Lovenox due to increasing risks for hematomas (bleeding under the skin at the surgical sites), and completes a vertical incision for the breast lift/augmentation, which will involve less scarring. The third and final consult was with a physician that was pretty much in between both of the others. He recommended 2 surgeries due to the previous PE, no implants (since I had so much of my own breast tissue), didn't mention anything about Lovenox or Doppler ultrasound, and completes a vertical incision for the breast lift. While my spouse and I felt that each physician had positive points, only the second physician appeared to listen to what I wanted and also seemed to look at me as a person and not just as body parts with measurements. So, after much deliberation, we have decided to go with Dr. Eric Swanson in Leawood, Kansas. His patient after surgery pictures look great, his office staff is very helpful and kind, he is very open and spent a lot of time answering all of our questions and addressing all of our concerns, and his office and surgery facilities are excellent.
