Please help me with info on the best compression garment to buy?
By mynewstart 314 on 28 Feb 2011
After the corset the surgeon gives you and it is time for the "stage 2" garment...(what does stage 2 mean anyway), what brand and where to buy? What did you like the best? I'm having TT with flank lipo...is the garment any different if you had lipo as well? Any feedback would be truly appreciated! Thanks my TT sisters :)

I purchased several different types/styles of compressions garments (Spanx & Veronique) online until I found the style I really liked. I really think it's a personal choice.
I'm sure you are right, what feels good to someone might not for me. We are all different after all. I was hoping for an easy answer, I'm such a "black or white", all or nothing thinker.
Barbie I saw your pics and you look like a movie star! Congrats on all your hard work at the gym :) and great surgeon.
Thank you SO much for your compliments. Best wishes!!
I am going to my PS today for a follow up (I'm nearly 4 weeks out), and the nurse is going to show me some samples of suggested garments to use after the binder. I will post here what I find out, later today.
He said that I didn't need the binder anymore (at 4 weeks), unless I felt comfortable still using it.
He suggested Spanx or anything similar, really anything I felt comfy with.
He DID say though, that since by this point, the swelling, etc. is below the belly button, that I don't really need a full girdle or garment.
He suggested I try even a pair of running shorts or other snug shorts with spandex in them. They only need be snug, but not digging in anywhere, such as the waistband. I have a couple of pairs of these, so will try them before buying anything. They are lightweight enough to wear under most anything.
When I feel I need more, such as support in the upper ab, I can wear my binder.
I don't seem to be able to sit comfortably at my desk for any length of time.
On Thursday and Friday when I went to work, I wore a tummy control panty, and on Saturday, I wrestled into my Spanx, just to try it out.
Every evening I have been swollen and tight in the lower abdomen, very uncomfortable.
This aft, I got hubby to help me back on with my binder, and I was SO uncomfortable. Within about 15 minutes, I could no longer feel the tight swollen discomfort in the lower abdomen - it was heaven! I think I will keep wearing it, at least around home, for the next few days, and see if it helps any.
I have the lower ab swelling later in the day, regardless of what I wear. I just found though, that with Spanx or control panty, I had a tight, swollen, uncomfortable feeling in the lower part.
When I put the binder back on, it kind of held it in, and supported the whole abdomen. It just felt so much better.
I think when I go back to work Thurs - Sat this week, I will wear the control panty, as it fits best under my clothing. I will continue to wear the binder at home though. Actually, I bought a pair of elastic back waist cord pants yesterday, and I think I may be able to fit the binder under them. If so, I'll wear it with a loose-fitting top, and see how Thursday goes, before deciding what to wear on Fri and Sat.
