Hello, I am new to this forum and have read some people's experience with Thermage on their face which really broke my heart. I have been considering it for my turkey neck but I have extremely thin skin so I have held back especially after I read about the grueling ordeal one woman wrote about (ie. one hour of thermage erased a whole lifetime of diligent skin care and she warned people with thin skin to stay away from the face). Long story short, due to some health issues I had I noticed that I was developing flabby loose skin in the abdomen and stomach so I decided to try it there first to see what would happen as I had read a lot of good reviews too. To sum it up I felt like I was in a TORTURE CHAMBER for at least 85 percent of the session and due to being ignorant about the positioning of various organs I later found out through a liver ultrasound less than one month later that there was some coarsening of my liver and my liver enzymes were elevated. I called the company on the brochure through their toll free number to innocently ask whether the tip being so close to my liver and experiencing so much excruciating pain could have lead to that organ being damaged or altered. It just seemed like common sense that the pressure and the pain could penetrate into the organ. Well, I am still waiting to this day to get a simple response from this DIFFICULT AND IGNORANT company. They chastised me for not getting the procedure done by a Dr. (vs. an ignorant technician with experience but who can not answer questions) yet there is not one Dr. in the entire city I live in who performs the procedure and I EVEN ASKED THEM TO PLEASE GIVE ME THE NAME OF A DR. IN MY CITY and they never answered that either because there isn't one. I told the representative why market the product to places that present it as a beauty treatment vs. a medical treatment if you chastise people for not getting it done by a Dr.? (so that unsuspecting people don't fall into the trap of getting it done by people who cant intelligently discuss anything beyond the basics of performing it) but of course he said he only takes messages and is not qualified to answer questions. So frustrating! Not only did they stonewall me but the third time I called back asking why nobody from their education dept. ever called back to answer my question I got shunted to another office that twisted this innocent question into a complaint and now they wanted to get the spa involved and my family Dr. who knows nothing about Thermage (as many people who never look into it would). I have had to jump through hoops by taking a form to my Family Dr. and sending them copies of all of my medical results JUST TO GET A GENERAL QUESTION ANSWERED that anybody should expect to have answered even if they NEVER had a procedure. Why are they so surreptitious and unresponsive when they swear up and down that the procedure is safe? My Family Dr. and another Dr. told me they didn't think radio frequency could penetrate far enough to affect the organs and maybe that's true but this company should have told me that and I am still waiting to hear back over a month later. I NEVER ACCUSED the procedure of causing the change to my liver I just wanted to investigate the situation further due to curiosity especially because I had to be tested for Hepatitis due to the way my liver looked and it put me through a lot of anxiety, worry and grief . Thankfully I was negative but I never exhaled till I got the result. Here I thought a simple 10 min phone call would result in direct answer based on probably hundreds of thousands of people having the procedure and yet they give me such a hard time to get a scrap of information (especially when their brochures extoll the virtues of the results).*****The reason I give this background is so that perhaps others far more knowledgeable than I could enlighten me more about whether Thermage can affect or damage underlying organs. So much has be discussed regarding the ASTHETIC and SURFACE results and sadly some people have really been burned both literally and figuratively but what if it also affects our health? With thin skin in my neck area and thyroid and larynx just below coupled with the burning pain of the treatment they should be explaining WHY it CANT damage those areas just like they should have with the liver BUT they are not in a hurry to do so.I was hoping maybe others who have thin skin in the neck area (especially where you can see all the tendons or cords (for lack of better words) and have treated it with Thermage could share their experience to the extent they are comfortable so I could get more insight. The Dr. at same spa that does my fillers said she thought it would be a good treatment for me but Dr.s also told "want my skin back" that there's no way what happened to her could have happened even in the face of the reality of her experience with the empirical evidence right in front of them so I am beginning to trust no one. After all, its not their face being ruined and this Dr. said she did it without consequence but her skin is much thicker than mine. I would be ever so grateful for any information anyone could give me.Best regards from In The Dark.
