Hi ladies... I've been thinking about getting a breast reduction just so tired of all the pain. My breast are big and heavy shoulder pain neck pain numbness and tingling just have become a part of life for me.. im really afaird of the pain durning recovery and also being put to sleep scares me my mind just goes off into crazy places thinking bout it. But im so sick of the everyday pain and i long for smaller breast... ladies tell me how vad is it really..Any advice would be helpful

Missy926, I had the same fears about being put to sleep. It's funny once I was sleep I didn't know it, I remember the nurse waking me up and me saying is it over. The hardest part for me was the first 48 hours. Each person handles pain differently. Sleeping on my back is uncomfortable, but if you ask me if I would do it again. My answer is yes. It's the best decision I made in a long time. Good luck on your journey!

I was thinking bout having my ps preform the surgery in the surgical center my question is would it be better to have the surgery in the hospital that way I would be there a couple of days and have nurses to help me... Anyways what is this mucus stuff I've been hearing about that sometimes after the surgery you have to cough it up? And some girls have to go under anesthesia for many hours do that depend on how much work is needed or what? Also how bad is the pain when they take the drains out your breast? Sorry I must sound like a big baby....lol

I had my procedure in a surgical center, which I prefer over a hospital(less germs). They do place a tube down your thought when you go under and yes I did have some mucus that I coughed up. I did not have drains so I can't say anything regarding it. I did bleed through my bandages but was back at the PS office the next day. I've had little to no bleeding/ drainage from my breast. Tomorrow will be one week.

Hi Missy926,

It's honestly not that bad. Yes you will have a little pain and swelling but it passes. Mine was more like a deep achy soreness. The pain meds really help when you keep on top of the dose.

I would do this all over again if necessary.

Hi Missy926 - if you've been thinking about it, then do it! The day of the surgery I could already tell the difference in my back and neck and shoulders, and I didn't think the everyday pain was bad. Everyone is different, so read through comments and talk with your plastic surgeon to determine what's best for you. Good luck - we're here for you!

Thanks for all your well wishes, thoughts and prayers. I have always heard people say that they have felt the long distance thoughs and prayers but, I have never been in a situation to experance it. On Valintines day my husband got in a car accedent, and we realy felt for ourselves all the well wishes send our way. It was reassuring and comforting to have them. My boobies and I will be just fine and all of your posts and kindness are appreciated more than you know. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

OMGoodness! That was so encouraging! I am about the same size she was. I have 4 days to go before my Lcups are gone. I don't want ot go as small as she did but I can't tell ya h.ow much this has helped me calm down. I will also have to have a free nipple graph so that was nice to see how thay do it. Wow, that truly was an amazing surgery! I can't imagine someone carrying around that amount of breast weight. That woman must feel such a tremendous sense of relief and a wonderful new quality of life. Congratulations to her & the surgeon!

Wow. What an amazing surgery. You know it's a big reduction when the doctor says you'll have trouble balancing after all the weight is gone from your front.
