Hi everyone, So I got a memorial tattoo in memory of a close friend of mine that recently passed away. However, it's bringing up an immense amount of grief and trauma, and I'm looking for ways to have it removed as soon as possible. It's on my back, black line only (it's a pair of tigers, so there's also a lot of empty space with no coloring except for black lines) and about 2.5 by 3.5 inches. It's fresh (only about a week old), so I know I need to give myself some time to heal, and I've been taking good care of my skin so I can start the removal process. I've looked into laser treatment, but I know it takes a great deal of time, and having a constant reminder of the loss is incredibly difficult. Is excision an option? I talked to a reputable plastic surgeon, and he said he's done work like this before and invited me to come in for a consultation. But I guess I'm just looking for guidance on what would be best. Has anyone experienced something similar? How many treatments of laser would I need to remove it completely, given the ink is so fresh? Given it could take up to two years and it's causing me so much distress, would it be worth it just to surgically remove it? I feel so lost and don't know what to do.
