appetite after surgery?

By Meliora on 27 Aug 2011

So I have only been able to eat tiny meals ever since my surgery. I've seen ladies posting about how hungry they are and I was wondering which is more common. how are your appatites? less? more? same? I get full so easily, which is great, don't get me wrong. I was just wondering if others have had the same experience and if so how long did it last? I'm just over a week PO now.

I was only able to eat about a half cup of food at a time for the first 4-6 weeks.   I had to eat 5-6 small meals a day or I felt like I was going to explode.

Everything gets sewn in so tight that our poor little tummies can't expand.  I looked at it as a blessing.  It was the first time in my life that I didn't want to eat.

I'm 10 days post op today and hVent really felt like eating. I eat a lot of yogurt!! My diet pre-op was very "clean" and I ate 6 times a day. It's kind of weird that I'm notmreally hungry.

Well just make sure you are getting some protein in so you will heal. I got behind the nutrition 8 ball and had a wound issue because of it. Protein shakes can keep you going at least. I too couldn't eat much so just smaller amounts. I'm still eating that way but thats ok with me.
