Appetite

Ok, I am 11 days post op and still have very little appetite. My tummy feels so tight that I can only put a little bit in at a time, and the heathier the food is, the better it sits on my stomach. If I eat sweets, I feel nauseated. Hopefully this will last, but I kinda doubt it?

Enjoy it while you can! While I'm sure your tummy muscles will stay tight, your appetite should return in time.

I am 6 days post op and not much appetite. I have tried to drink an ensure a couple days for lunch and I get a really upset tummy afterwards, anyone else experiencing that? I am eating a lot of yogurt, jello, applesause, and toast. So far, so good.

I am 7 days post op and my appetite is slowly coming back. I have little waves of nausea here and there. I am eating really clean, homemade soups, gingerale, apple juice and cream of wheat. And unsalted saltines are wonderful!

Hi Jodi - I remember that feeling.  I could eat about a 1/2 cup of food and I was stuffed.  That does get better with time and your appetite will come back.  That lasted about three weeks for me.  Watch the sodium intake and processed food.  Drink plenty of water and skip the sweets if you can.  Otherwise you will bloat and the swelling and pressure will be worse.  Take in all the lean protein you can.  I found that yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese and protein shakes were my main diet for a while.  Oh yes..skip the soda at all cost.  That will give you gas pains you do not want.

My appetite was really light for the first two weeks and has increased over time but I still cannot eat as much as I could before the surgery so that is a plus. I really could not have anything too sweet and did not have the desire for it. Definitely as much meat, fruit and veggies that you can tolerate.
