What Are My Options For A Lip Reduction?
I've been wanting to make my lips stop protruding out for a long time, and my dentist says that if I remove 4 teeth (ouch) and get braces, my mouth will go in and my mouth protrudes because of my jaw. But when I poke it, it feels like there's just a lot of lip fat or tissue or something, and I was wondering if a lip reduction could help me? I want the lips to not stick out for a side profile, but could I get that done without really decreasing the size of the red part of my lips?
A: Lip Reduction ConsiderationsA lip reduction could be just what you need. But be be aware of the causes of your lip protrusion. If the cause can be corrected, such as protruding teeth, you might want to consider addressing that first.
There are several factors influencing lip protrusion..These would be your age, ethnicity, genetics and tooth position. Lips are thicker when you are young and get thinner as you age, the pink part (vermilion) becomes more rolled in and appears to become thinner over time as well. Many dark skinned people have thicker lips as we all know. The lips are supported to a large degree by the teeth; a toothless person will have sunken in lips; a buck toothed person will have overly thinned lips that may not close completely.
The part of the lip that is reduced is just behind the point where the lips touch each other. This should not result in reduction of the vermilion.
Good luck.
What Techniques Were Used In This Patrick Dempsy Rhinoplasty? (photo)
It may not be good to ask about a celebrity, but Patrick Dempsy had a wide nose before rhinoplasty... You may be able to see by doing a Google search. Now, his nose looks awesome and he is much better looking to the ladies I'm sure. Do you think he had an alar base reduction? Seems a celebrity male would not want scars. Also, would a surgery like what he had done (narrowing) be a full 2 week recover plus months of recovery or something quick and easy?
A: Primarily revision of the tipIt's difficult to tell from a single photo since not having a profile view limits my evaluation. Patrick definitely had the tip narrowed and may have had the nasal dorsal hump smoothed down. The nasal bones themselves look as wide preop as they do postop so I don't think that he had the nasal bones narrowed. I don't think he had the tip raised since on this view it still looks like it is downward.
I Had Full TT 13 Months Ago with Bad Scarring and Need a Total Re-do, Is that Possible? (photo)
I had a full TT with MR. While putting on compression garment in surgery room the Dr. overlapped my tummy skin and pinched it. I couldn't feel it from being medicated. He didn't open up my garment for 2 days and found necrosis had already happened. Now I have 3 hideous lumps of scarring between my belly button and scar, right where it was supposed to be my best results. Can I have a complete redo? I have gained 30 pounds and am losing it so I can have enough loose skin. Is that possible?
A: Scar after tummy tuckGiven your photos, it does not seem that you have enough tissue for another full tummy tuck. If your scar is not raised, you can try lasers. If they are hypertrophic, steroid injection or scar revision may help. Good luck to you.
