I'm a Dancer. How Long Should I Wait to Go Back to Work After Rhinoplasty? Considering that I be careful to not have it come into contact with anything? I don't do pole dancing, so I wouldn't have to worry about any possible injuries there...but worried about what's an appropriate time to wait for this type of occupation because there is moderate contact.

A: Dancing and recovery from rhinoplasty

It is wise to allow for at least 6 weeks of undisturbed healing after rhinoplasty. This number will vary greatly on the basis of the amount of structural changes that have been made with the procedure.

In general, as long as the nose feels somewhat tender to the touch, it is not a good idea to expose it to potential traumas. However, familiar interactions usually do involve some facial contact and we do not recommend completely avoiding occasional light contact.

Does Applying Pressure to Nose to Drain Scar Tissue Sound Normal? Hi. I had my first rhinoplasty in Montreal 4 yrs ago to remove a bump on the bridge. 2 revisions later, scar tissue keeps growing back and is making my nose round and deformed in the supratip area. My Dr. told me yesterday to put pressure on my nose with my fingers regularly to drain out scar tissue. Does this seems right? The procedure is painful. I am 2 months post of after my 2nd revision and he does not want to use kenalog. Should I follow his instructions or seek another surgeon's advice?

A: Scar after repeat rhinoplasty can be tough to treat

Each rhinoplasty brings on some scar tissue, and repeated procedures can build up a significant amount. In general, treatment and prevention of scar in the supra tip region include:

Pressure and massage in the first few weeks/month, aided by vit. E
Steroid injections - small amounts over time

Scar buildup in redo rhinoplasty will resolve very slowly and it will take six to nine months to reach any level of softness.

2 Weeks After my Nose Surgery and I Just Started Bleeding, is This Normal? its been about 2 weeks seens i got my nose surgery and today i started to bleed. is this normall halp

A: Bleeding after rhinoplasty should be evaluated

Any bleeding from the nose 2 weeks after rhinoplasty should be evaluated by the operating Surgeon. It is unlikely that a problem may have arisen, and likely it is simply the effect of the lining of the nose being irritated or drying up.

However, it is important to not underestimate the issue and to seek an evaluation by the Surgeon who performed the rhinoplasty.
