Yesterday, I had my first full facial BBL treatment (similar to an IPL). I have fair, freckly skin. 24 hours later, my freckles and age spots and areas I did not even know I had spots have turned chocolate brown. My face is covered in large brown areas resembling potting soil or coffee ground stains. I assume this is normal, but it is alarming. Does it usually start to flake off within 5-7 days? I also have two spots that have turned a maroon-purple color and are not brown (looks like magenta marker spots). Is this normal?
Those spots will fall off on their own, revealing less spotty skin beneath. You will be happy with this.
No need for alarm, sometimes a mild exfoliating cleanser can help speed the removal of these spots a little.
Stay out of the sun while you are healing, use sunscreen and wait for the younger looking skin to emerge!
Called Dr. She said come back in after one week and she would re-do procedure. Is this ok to do again after one week. Also I have friends that had this done and they said they got the most results after 1st treatment. Even it I dont have alot of "coffee grins" appearance will I still see improvement??
Don't do another IPL or Fotofacial for 30 days. I usually recommend 5 monthly treatments.
These dark spots are damaged pigmented areas you didn't want in the first place. They'll just fall off. This kind of thing happens all the time and is to be expected as a normal result of the procedure.
When they do fall off, your skin color will be more uniform, youthful and attractive. IPL or Fotofacial is one of those procedures that typically has a high satisfaction rate.
Which is better in treating post acne redness? What i expect from the treatment is to help lighten the flat red lesions on my skin as much as possible. I've had this marks which aver very persistant and never faded away.
I have both state-of-the-art devices. In my experience, when you are dealing with anything red, pulse dye laser treat is always the better treatment. When I am dealing with both redness and dark patches or spots or large areas of discoloration, IPL is a great choice. But for pure vascular redness, pulse dye is the gold standard.
I hope you find my answer helpful.
