Dear Ajax2683, a single trial of use of BIMOTOPROST { Latisse} in treating vitiligo patients was submitted during the world congress of Dermatology, May 2011, by Dr Narang, from India. 10 patients with localized vitiligo applied bimatoprost 0.03% ophthalmic solution at a dose of 1 drop per 2 cm2 of affected skin twice daily for 4 months.Seven of 10 patients showed pronounced repigmentation beginning on average after 2 months of treatment. The face responds best , with much less response on other areas. Disease duration less than 6 months showed best response.
It is not a standard line of treatment as of yet.
Hi there i have recently been prescribed latisse/lumigan 'off label' for thinning hair temples I have read of the side effects of latisse in darkening the iris of the eye and i am worried about this happening. Is there any possible way that by applying latisse to temples of the head that it could be absorbed into the blood stream and travel to the eye and then could possibly darken it. I love my blue eyes and im terrified of anything darkening them or changing their colour. Help!
Dear kol14 from Scotland: Latisse [Bimatoprost] is not FDA-approved for scalp hair loss. I am not aware of any scientific reference for such indication!! If the case is AndroGenetic Alopecia, topical Minoxidil 2-5% would be a better option. But, to answer your question, Bimatoprost on the scalp should have no effect on your eye color.
Ive been using careprost the generic brand of latisse for 4 months now. I still want my lashes to be longer...should I keep using it everynight even though its past 4 months? will it keep growing longer and thicker lashes until i start maintaining them at 2 applications a week?
You can certainly try. However there is a certain hair length that will never be exceeded. This finite length varies from 1 person to another & varies also depending on the hair location i.e. scalp, body, pubic area, armpits...etc. This is because each hair goes through a growth phase, a resting phase & a shedding phase. The length of the hair is determined by the growth phase duration.
