A year ago I had restalene sub q injected into my cheeks. On occasion after this the cheeks would swell and become tender for a few days and then go away. Apart from that the results were good. All the restalene is gone now and I am thinking of having Sculptra instead but I am afraid that I may get a worse reaction to it which would cause Granulomas. The swelling was like an infection with the sub q and I do not want it to be worse and last longer with Sculptra. I am prone to getting infections.
All fillers including restylane and sculptra are prone to infections and granulomas. One preventive measure is to treat the face with Hibiclens soap before injections.
I had Restylane for nasolabial lines about 6 months ago and ever since I have had acne breakouts constantly along those lines now with pretty constant redness as well.
The dermatologist did the 'ferning' technique so there were many many injections on each side. I have hormonal acne breakouts but had never had any problems in that area before. Is this a reaction to the Restylane or having so many injections in such a small area? It is extrememly frustrating and I am reluctant to have this again.
Restylane is unlikely to cause acne. However, acne is an inflammatory disease and any irritation such as repeated needle sticks may flare acne.
I have asked this before but I only used the expression lateral lower eyelid..I have had some restylane SubQ which has improved things, but I still have considerable hollowing in this area...how close to lower eyelashes can filler be put?
The subq was put right on my orbital bone, when I smile I still have horizontal wrinkles (folds) on my orbital bone. I have a "shelf look" when I smile. I do not want surgery as I already have a failed MFL and now have bilateral HPG insitu.
Hollowing around the orbit and loose skin of the eyelids are two different problems. The first can be treated with fillers and the second with peels or lasers.
