It has been 2 months since BA (saline under muscle; 250cc R/180cc L. Both have never felt very soft since day one; in fact now they are quite hard and I find that massaging helps them become softer. However, it seems like it gets firm only a few hours after massaging, therefore I feel a need to masaage them often when I can. My PS in a recent visit mentioned that I may be developing CC. I am hoping it is not CC and that I have tight muscles. If this is the case, when do they typically relax?
It takes approximately 3 months for the capsule to completely form, so I do not believe this is capsular contracture. You could have muscle spasm, or plain edema which gets redistributed after massage. In my opinion, continue your massage and wait 4 more months for all the swelling to resolve and the scar tissue to stabilize. However, if the problem is worsening with time, please see your surgeon ASAP.
Please also visit my blog ( which is posted on my web-site home page) and read the blog on capsular contracture.
I need to have a lump biopsied, but I have implants. Do implants complicate the surgery? If my doctor decides to remove the lump what is the likelihood I'll need to have my implants removed as well?
In general, if the implant is placed behind the muscle, the biopsy will be easier to perform since the chest muscle will protect most of the implant. However, each case is individual.
Please make sure if a needle biopsy is planned, you choose a radiology center which has experience working with patients with breast implants.
From what I've read on RealSelf, it seems (board-certified) plastic surgeons generally try to convince women to choose moderate, natural-looking implants, and also design the surgery (position, incision etc) to be an unnoticeable as possible.
So I'm curious: when women come in specifically requesting "porn star boobs," do you try and talk them out of it first? How frequently do women request such unnatural-looking implants?
Every surgeon has his/her own philosophy. I like to think of my patients as a long-term investment. The only way to obtain natural results with the best chance of minimizing complications such as skin looseness, nipple ptosis, nipple numbness, thinning of the skin and visibility of the implant, is to pick an implant which can COMFORTABLY fit into the dimensions of the patient's breast height, width and skin envelope.
I, therefore, DO turn down patients who have unrealistic requests.
