Hello all! I would really appreciate your advice. Both my upper and lower eyelids seem to be big. This shows specially when I smile, squint, look up, or pretty much do anything with my eyes besides neutral position (pic). My face is long, thin with some dark circles. Not sure if I have bulgy/hollow eyes, or just excess skin on my eyelids, but I would like to know which are my options if I wanted to reduce the bulgy effect on the lower lids, at least? Thank you very much and Happy Holidays!
You have nice eyelids and are not an individual who should have any type of surgery or injections.
If I Am an Ex Smoker Can i not Have Eyelid Surgery or a Necklift?
Thanks for your question -
As the other physicians have noted facial surgery healing can be compromised by smoking. There can long term small vessel damage as well as the effect nicotine has in constricting blood vessels every time you puff that can cause the problem.
Something that wasn't mentioned by the other authors include the risk of anesthesia in smokers. People who smoke have a more difficult time protecting their airway and are at higher risk for pneumonia as well.
If you've stopped smoking for at least three months most of these issues will likely be less of a problem.
Our office is in Dublin. Feel free to stop by if we can answer other questions.
I hope this helps.
Should the original plastic surgeon be financially responsible for re-constructive surgery needed for correcting droopy eyelid after Blepharoplasty?
Thanks for your question -
Most plastic surgeons will waive the professional fee if there is need for a revision in the first year. This means you will likely still be responsible for the anesthesia and facility fees if any.
However, each situation is different and the discussion should start with your doctor.
Good luck!
