I'm medium blonde with dark under arm hair, so Lightsheer painless hair removal seemed too good to be true - and it was! Had 4 treatments that were NOT painless. It feels like a very hot, burning sucking feeling under your arms. Hair seemed to be gone for good. Then, guess what? 5 months... more »

Love the regular Lightsheer- Hate the duet-results long-term not good! Much better permanent results with the regular one! Doctor used the duet to save time for himself-and make more money. I would rather have it take longer and have it work! more »

Lightsheer Laser: was it worth it?

Lightsheer Laser Information

  • Light Sheer laser hair removal is a long pulsed diode laser that claims to permanently reduce pigmented hair in all skin types.
  • The LightSheer laser is specifically designed for hair removal. Unlike IPL that has multiple uses, LightSheer targets only the hair follicle because of its very specific wavelength.
  • Manufactured by Lumenis, the LightSheer laser is purported to treat pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB or razor bumps), leg veins, and some dark spots on the skin.
  • LightSheer Duet laser is a new version of the laser, often a replacement of the LightSheer Diode machine. The Duet is several times faster than the Diode and the comfort level is significantly better. Many patients who were reluctant to treat large areas, such as the legs, chest and back, have gone ahead with the Duet laser mainly because it is so tolerable and fast. Like other lasers, however, it does not work on blond or white hair.
