Hi. I'm Dr. Jessica Krant. You buy a sunscreen to protect your skin, but a lot of people aren't getting the protection they paid for. One of the most common things I see with my patients is the under-application of sunscreen. You actually need a quarter-sized amount of SPF 30 or more sunscreen for your face and one ounce or two tablespoons for your body 30 minutes before going outside. You need to reapply every two hours. Back it up with other sun-safe habits. Wear a hat, reapply sunscreen after water activity, seek shade, and don't forget to protect your lips.
