I found Dr. Pousti while looking for a plastic surgeon that could use breast augmentation to camouflage my pectus excavatum. I was nervous to have the procedure as I was flying in from the east coast two days before the operation, but after meeting Dr. Pousti and his staff, I was sure I had made the right decision. He was extremely personable and truly cared about me as a patient and what I wanted as my results. I provided goal photos that he hung up in the OR to use as a reference to be sure he knew exactly what my goals were. He also introduced me to other patients to discuss their experience, which gave me even more comfort in knowing that his other patients had such a pleasant experience. Being that this was my first time having a surgery, I was overwhelmed and worried, but Dr. Pousti and the staff at the surgical center had fantastic bedside manner and were very kind and patient with me. Dr. Pousti, the nurses, and the anesthesiologist met with me beforehand to go over any of my concerns. Dr. Pousti even put on my preferred music in the OR to help me stay calm and he held my hand until I was under anesthesia. As soon as I was under anesthesia safely, he spoke with my mother (who is a registered nurse) to let her know that I was under safely. Being put under anesthesia was my biggest fear so he reassured her that I was fine. I woke up without any pain or nausea. The nurses and anesthesiologist met with me after to make sure I was feeling well. Dr. Pousti also spoke with my mother following the procedure to discuss how it went. My surgery was on a Friday, but I received a phone call everyday, including that Friday, from both Dr. Pousti and one of the nurses at his office. The next morning I was able to go out to breakfast and that Sunday I was able to spend most of the day out of bed. I met with Dr. Pousti and his staff for two more appointments before flying home eight days after the surgery. I am impressed with how little pain I have experienced while healing and with my results thus far. I am so very happy I made the decision to fly in from out of state for this surgery because of Dr. Pousti's professional, kind, respectful, and caring nature. I couldn't be happier with my decision.
