I just paid my down payment for my lower face lift and fat transfer. I'm going to Dr. John Cook in Wilmette, IL. I'm beyond excited. I'm scared about the recovery. I'm only telling my best friend that is going to take care of me for the first few days. Any advice on recovery or preparing for the surgery. I'll post pics as soon as i figure out how to do it. :)

Best advice I got was to get the essentials. Ice bags, arnica cream and tablets. I also got a spray that zapped my bruising. Lots of pillows. I recommend if you are a side sleeped start sleeping on your back before day one post surgery. You will need antibiotic ointment, gauze,a good bedside table for everything to go on. Soft east to prare foods that are rich in protein. Cutout salt a few weeks before surgery to help with water retention. Entertainment such as magazines or books maybe even on tape so ypu don't have to open your eyes. There are tons of good suggestions on this site. Read through a ton of posts. Yes even the negative pnes because if you have a complicationyou want to recognize it early. Good luck I will follow your journey so kerp us posted especially before your date so we can answer questions and virtually hold your hand from afar!

It is great to have all these women on here who have been through the procedure to give advice but be sure to check with your PS as they each have their own protocol. Mine liked icing some done. Mine had me take off the face bra in 5 days others have you wear it for a month. ETC. Some say use the Arnica and some say no non prescribed products. So best to take the advice and then double check with your physician for his plan for you. I liked the lymphatic message and you can learn it before your procedure from the internet. It worked on my swelling like a charm and I still do it morning and night. Remember if you ice don't fall asleep with the ice on. It can cause a freezer burn and that is not good. I recommend setting a timer when you apply it or get cooling packs that are thin and warm up within 15 minutes. I got those and they are great. When I get home I will write you and give you the brand name. They are blue and thin so they cool for about 15 minutes good then you have to place them back in the freezer. I bought 3 of them to use and was very happy using them. I also used ice but it was a bigger hassle.

I had my fat transfer done last week and yes ice ice ice for the 1st few days. I also applied some arnica gel on my bruises and some vitamin C (mario badescu it's 45 $ at ulta) it will help lighten the scar and ofc it will give you a fresh brighten face in a long run. For me the most painful part of the procedure was the area where my doctor extracted the fat it's still hurting a bit. If u can tolerate the pain and feel ok try to walk a bit even a couple of feet every hr or so it helped me with the discomfort rather than just sitting in my bed all day. Check out my review so u can see how my bruises looks like and best of luck. :)

Hi kidney08, I want to make a consultation with Dr Q for face fat transfer but I'm looking for some feedback from people who already had this procedure , is this really worth it ? Do you love the results? I'm on scare because I read that you face can be lumpy, please let me know how do or like your procedure after and now. Thank you. S

I'll add-buy a wedge pillow at bed bath and beyond and I used arnica tablets plus bromelain tablets. I ate lots of pineapple too..the easiest food to eat the first couple days is children's pouches, just squeeze it in your mouth..no chewing involved..Target's applesauce was my favorite. Also a children's toothbrush as you don't want to open your jaw to wide for a few days and children's toothbrushes are smaller. Refrain from taking any aspirin also. Vitamin E after stitches are out on scars..good luck!

Great Suggestions. I did similar and am grateful for that applesauce!
