When I heard about Kybella I was so excited! All the women in my family have a double chin, and no matter how in shape or think I've ever been, the double chin was always there. I especially have always hated the way I've looked in photos.
I went to an Ideal Image to get my first dose of Kybella last week (I'm writing this at 6-days post-shots). I was SO nervous! But it really was not too bad. They numbed my chin area with lidocaine cream. While the nurse drew up the medication I held an ice pack to my chin. Then, she traced around my anatomic structures (jawline, thyroid area, etc) with a white pencil and applied the dot grid pattern to my chin. All in all I received 20 shots. It burned a little, but she went pretty quickly so it was over fast.
Then, she gave me some ice packs and instructions and sent me on my way.
Immediately after the shots, my chin was def very swollen and irritated. Also, the right side of my chin area seemed more swollen- like it was more irritated. Unsure why that would be?
I took ibuprofen and applied the ice packs for 10 minutes at a time for the rest of the day.
**NOTE: be careful about over-icing your chin. After the lidocaine and shots, my chin was totally numb. I couldn't feel how cold the area was getting but when I touched my hand to the ice packs, it was still super cold! You could get ice-burn if you leave the pack under your chin for too long.**

Keep us posted on the rest of your recovery.  Is the swelling any better now that it has been a few days?

It is much better now! Still a bit tender, and numb in some areas. I look like my regular self with just a hint of a double chin now.

I'm glad to hear it is getting better :)

Hang in there!

so did it work?

From what I've read it can take about 4-5 weeks to really notice the results, and apparently most people need at least 2 treatments to really see a difference. I think time will tell.

Wishing you the best! Please keep us posted.

My doctor told me to NOT take Motrin or any kind of anti inflammatory medication because they interfere with your body’s natural healing process which includes swelling and you won’t get best results from Kybella.

Hey all! So as you can probably tell from the pictures, the swelling has gone way down now and looks more like my usual chin. It is still a tiny bit tender, and more so numb in most of the area. I don't think it looks improved from my normal self yet, but I have read that it can take around a month or 5 weeks to really notice a difference. I know most people need 2 treatments, but I am planning on seeing how it looks and how I am feeling at the 5 weeks mark, when I have my follow up appointment to review how the first injections went.
I will continue posting pics as I notice changes!

As of tomorrow I'll be three wks post 1st round of shots. Really not seeing any difference yet. The one area under my chin, on the left side, is still sore and there is still decreased sensation in the area. But I'm trying to be patient!

I believe you need another shot, the difference is barely noticeable.

I have heard everyone needs at least two rounds of shots. The "research" I have been reading seems to recommend Kybella only for small double chins. I had a larger double chin and started the Kybella process before I was aware that a true Double Chin will take several rounds of Kybella and many, many months to reduce in size.
