So I guess this isn't a complete experience guide since I've only been on it for 15 days so far, but I AM seeing results. I started out with cystic acne on the sides of my face and pimples on my forehead prior to treatment. I've been dealing with acne since the beginning of teen-hood, but when I turned 18, it all got even worse. I'm glad I can now tackle the breakout problem and hopefully once and for all.

The skin/chapped lips is, as of now, kicking in. It's quiet irritating, but I'm willing to brave it. It does get better right? Any advice on how to alleviate the dryness? I have Aquaphor for my lips, but I'm wondering if CeraVe will work on my face and not offset the benefits of accutane.

How long did "hell period" last for you guys? I always hear how your skin looks worse at first but towards the middle or end of the entire treatment period, it looks amazingly better. Can any of you guys confirm this statement? I will keep you all posted and try to update with photos if I can get them.

Day 17: Dry skin patches where large zits are, usually have puss under them. I notice these take longer than the average scab to heal. This is normal, right? And refrain from picking and poking, as usual?

Wow, it sounds like it is working fast for you - how great!!

As for the dryness, I didn't really feel like mine got better until I was off it, but it was also a long, long time ago so I might be remembering wrong.

Do try not to pick at any of the areas. That is so much easier said than done though...

Do you know what dosage you are on?

I am on 40mg/day. Yes, the worsening is definitely happening. I have these patches of dry, white and slightly yellow (ew!) patches of skin. On the right track right? I can't ask that enough. This medicine is really testing my patience, and I have a bad habit of being an impatient person haha.

Oh I hear ya, patience is a virtue I tend to lack too. ;)

Yes, you are on the right track!! Just pay close attention to your body, and keep your appointments with your doctor and you should be good to go! Please keep us posted what changes you see.

Day 19: Huge yellowish and white scabs on problem areas. I'm so tempted to pick at them but I know I'll only get scars or it'll make the problem worse (and look worse!). The acne under my chin has basically cleared, which is good. Not using any cleansers or scrubs because I don't want the scabs to prematurely come off, so I'm just letting water run over them. (sorry!, I accidentally added this as a comment)

Add-on: Seeing my derm this Saturday for a checkup.
