Lymphatic massage

RockyNP
$8,000
I had lymphatic massage post op day 2 after my abdomen lipo. I got it twice a week then I received it today for my abs & back post op day 3 for my back. Massage so soon after surgery feels like torture but I must say I do feel a lot better now that I've done it. It had acupuncture & massage today & have a lot of relief... My back feels like a balloon & my abdomen just appears fat but they all tell me my belly is inflamed. No progress yet but my surgeon said he won't even measure til 3 months post op & I won't see my full results until 6 mths post op. I'm rating 1-2gms sodium/day, taking arnica and Bromelain & getting massage & acupuncture. I wonder if all this will improve or help with quicker results. Well only time will tell. To be continued.....

Flanks soreness

RockyNP
I went back in for my posterior lipo. A lot more drainage. A lot more pain. Today is post op day 2 and I am extremely swollen & sleeping in my recliner because getting up after lying flat is torture. I purchased a hula hoop & rebounder before the surgery & I intend to Work out with both in 2 weeks. No updated pics yet because I'm bigger than when i started. I really admire the RS reviewers that have immediate results. My dr will not measure until 3 months post op...

I had my flanks done Feb 8. Oh, I know Exactly what you mean about trying to get up and trying to lay down--it HURTS a lot! I kept a crutch by my bed to help me get up and it did help a lot. After about 3 days I didn't need it anymore although it still hurt but it wasn't torture like it was at first. I am still very tender and a bit sore 11 days later but I am fully able to do things. I am still uncomfortable sitting all day at my desk and some nights when I go to bed I just can't get comfy. I didn't have a lot of bruising and it is almost totally gone now but am still swollen a lot so I can't see any difference in my shape yet but remain hopeful that my rear muffin top will be gone. I too am envious of the RS girls who have immediate and dramatic results whereas I have to wait and hope, LOL. Good luck and keep posting your progress!

Same here! I swelled and it took 2-2.5 months for a lot of it to go down. I still swell 4 months PO. Looks like I will definitely swell the full 6 months (or longer).

I hear ya- I really don't understand how some realselfers look so good right after smart lipo. I was for sure bigger after I had my procedure done. I am 3 months p/o and went from a medium cg (tried it on b4) before procedure to a large for a few months and now I'm in a small cg. I could have gotten an xs too. So hang in there some of us just need more time to heal than others. And some of us just swell more than others unfortunately.

They may be small to begin with..and they may not swell as much..or their bodies rids itself of swelling quickly..lymphatic drainage massage helps..look on you tube for videos..self massage helped me greatly

Don't worry! My flanks still hurt 4 months PO. They only hurt when I run/jog..so I don't do either ;-)
And don't rush into working out!! My dr told me no nothing for at least 6 weeks. You will swell even more mama. Please give your body time to heal properly!

Wow thank. My dr said a month...ugh!!!
February 26, 2016
The all say a month and the all say..minor discomfort because if they told the truth none of us would get abything done..it is worth it..may I add the real results of smartlipo came at the sixth month and then again another jump at the eighth month it does really take up to a year to see the skin tightening

Thank you sooo much for this info!!! My massage therapist said with the amount of fat removed I will have extra skin... I am anxious to see the results & anxious to get back to the gym. I'm 3 weeks post op from my abs & 1 week 2 days post op from my back & the back is so much worst than the stomach... Looking forward to decreased pain & results.

My dr didn't say I'd be in excruciating pain, which I wasn't, but he did lmk that it was surgery and lipo is invasive, so be prepared..it will hurt. Think about it..lipo is violent! The only thing that surprised me was the longevity of the flank soreness. He was impressed that I was so active at 3 months. I started going on walks in week 3 bc I just needed to get moving. They weren't fast or long walks at first, but I got better over time. I definitely swelled more afterwards. I swell in my lower abdomen now when I sit.
Francesca - I hope my lower abdomen puff is mostly swelling and continues to decrease. If not, round 2 here I come!

Oddly my right flank did not hurt as much as my left..my left was numb a long time the first time..was terrible...I feel for you..it does get better week two..and the. Week three you. Feel almost human

I use a female urinal the first that helps a lot makes it easy to pee i could not sit easily and taking the garment off was impossible....when i did back and flanks it was a nightmare..I hear ya..getting up was hellacious..and you cannot lie on it or near it...laying on my stomach..that didme in

Extremely sore

RockyNP
It's been 5 days... I measure exactly the same, so no new pics yet. As for pain, I was told the pain would be much like working out burn. Near my rib cage is extremely tender & sore. It's difficult for me to stand up straight. So many people on RS are back to work 4 days post op. I know results & recovery of smart lipo is 3-6 mths but as of now I'm a bit discouraged. Trying to maintain my positive outlook but this hurts!! I started lymphatic massage po day 2; CG 24 hr except shower & massage; Bromelain; arnica;

Loving all your updates!  Try to be patient, as hard as that is.  Too early to get discouraged!

Hang in there.. I am 11 days past operation and still feel soreness.. especially when I've been sitting for long periods of time (at work at my desk) and then get up.. it takes a bit to get moving.... I try to get up once an hour to get more water, use the restroom and to move around. This procedure and process is definitely far from minimally invasive and I totally understand where you're coming from when you reference others being back to work and moving so freely so quickly after. I am taking it slow as I feel rushing back into things will only prolong the recovery. I find that after doing my daily massages, as painful as they are, I do feel better and "loosened up" a bit. The RN that was assisting my Dr suggested I use a rolling pin to massage the areas and I am going to start with that today. Up until today everything was extremely sore to the slightest touch, so today I brought a mini rolling pin with me to work and plan to use it a few times throughout the day. Hang in there.. you are NOT alone =)

Hang in there girl. I was the same way. Luckily I'm a stay at home mom so I didn't have to go back to work but I was in much more pain than I expected. I think about two weeks I began to feel more normal. But there was no way I could go back to work if I needed to. Also I was bigger before I was smaller. So don't get discouraged. You will make it through the tough part. I went from a size medium to a large before I went to a small were I am now at 3 months p/o
February 22, 2016
I agree right around two weeks I started to feel a little normal again.
February 22, 2016
I had my surgery the same day as you. I thought the same that it was something wrong with me because I didnt bounce back as fast its not. My personal opinion the area that is suctioned the most is where it hurts and the more they take out determines the pain. I am still out if work I will return next week.
February 22, 2016
Thank you! I'm working today & it's tolerable but hurts!
February 26, 2016
The same size is actually good because you are swollen right now I did not start losing inches until week two..then I went down sizes in the following weeks
