I have wanted rhinoplasty for a couple of years...

WORTH IT
I have wanted rhinoplasty for a couple of years now, ever since I was 14. I am 21 now and finally made a choice on a surgeon after a year of searching, consults and reading reviews. I am scheduled for surgery on sept 9 with dr Carlos Burnett and hopeful that he can give me the results I want. I have had numerous consults with doctors in BH, New York and Chicago but I am most confident with Dr Burnett and his staff

Wow, you're just a few days away from surgery. Don't worry about having thick skin. Thick skin may preclude getting a "tiny" nose, but it doesn't preclude good results. Medium size noses are beautiful too!! Stay positive dear! I'm sure you'll get good results. Best wishes and keep us posted.

So happy you chose him. Can't wait to see your results. How do you feel ? How much did it cost ?

Day of surgery-
Went in at 6:30am did blood work then surgery at 8:30am. I didn't wake up until late into the night don't remember what time. Had so much pain from rib graft.
Post of days 1-4 first night slept in the hospital and got released the next day. Slept on and off for the past four days and finally starting to feel like myself again finally. Ready to get my splints removed and breath through my nostrils again

When will your splint and stitches be removed?

The first few days following surgery are typically tough. Glad to know that you are feeling better. Take care & Happy Healing dear!!

Question you said that your surgery was in the morning but you woke up later that night? Is that normal? I need to have a revision surgery but I'm terrified of general Anesthesia.
September 14, 2015
Yes, general anesthesia can be scary to think about, but you shouldn't worry as long as your PS and anesthesiologist are board certified and you are in an accredited hospital. My nose had a lot of work to be done so I was under for a long time.

Oh so you were aware that you were going to be out for that long. I'm still looking for a good dr for my revision surgery. I'm so really worry about choosing the right doctor. I hope that you get better soon and that you get the results that you were looking for

Aww thanks so much :)
It took me a couple years to find the right surgeon also. This site was really helpful, since you can see pictures of noses similar to yours and compare the doctors. Good luck

Hi, I am also considering Dr. Burnett. Did you have a virtual consultation or was it in office? Also, knowing that, that much time under anesthesia can lead to significantly increased risks...what made you decide to go through with it anyway?

Hey LaetiB, I just got surgery with Dr. Burnett..He did a great job, it took some getting used to but as of now I can't complain.

Ten days post op
axow123September 19, 2015
I am ten days post op today. Got to see my nose for a bit before doctor taped it. Swelling has gone down a lot and my bridge is higher and tip is less bulbous. It should take a year for it to fully heal though since my skin is so thick.

Can't wait for Monday when I can finally wash my entire face. Nose is so oily and gross.

I'm so happy for you it sounds that you see good results. I'm still searching a dr for my revision surgery, like you I have thick skin and other issues!! Wish me luck
September 20, 2015
Thank you so much :). I definitely see improvement, but it will take a full year for the final shape and result! I would go to as many consults as you can before you make a final decision, and find people with similar noses that have been done by the doctor so you can get an idea of what kind of work the doctor does.
Good luck in finding a doctor!

Do you mind showing us how he dressed the rib graft? Is it big and will it scar? How does he determine where he'll get the graft from?
September 23, 2015
It's about an inch, it's very thin and be decided on using rib since I needed to build up the bridge. I believe rib is the strongest form of cartilge
Have you set a date for your surgery?
