Implant exchange turns into explant

WORTH IT
1/31/24 I went in for an implant exchange and lift, because of the swelling and symptoms I was having my wonderful amazing surgeon decided that replacing the implants at this surgery was too risky. He found a ton of fluid in my right breast and removed the capsule. He sent off the capsule and fluid to be tested for this ALCL. I woke up to tubes in my breasts to drain the excess fluid. I was well aware this may happen and that I would have to schedule a surgery at a later date.

Recovery this time has been rough, my right peck muscle is insanely tight and sore, the drain tubes are uncomfortable. I took the narcotics these first 3 days and will back off tomorrow. My follow up is Wednesday where I can hopefully remove the drains and discuss the next surgery to get new implants put in and a lift done.

Hey, I've just read your review. I plan on posting my story in the next couple of months. A year and a half ago I had 300cc moderate profile dual plane implants with a lift. Like you, mine never dropped and I had the snoopy appearance within 4 months post op. 2 weeks ago, my doc removed the implants and changed the pocket. I now have 400cc high profile subglandular, and they look sooooo much better. I was pretty nervous about going in front of the muscle but I'm happy I have. They look very natural. Once I've taken a few more photos over the coming weeks I'll post my pics and story. But just thought that it may help you as you have a new decision to make of what you will do next and that subglandular actually looks quite good too :)

Thanks for commenting! I just had my revision Friday and went with 445 modplus. They are still so big, hoping it’s just swelling. Doc said 445mod is significantly smaller than 525hp. This waiting game is no fun. Can’t wait to see your pics!

7.5 years later Textured implants ALCL

User Avatar

Hey all! About 4 weeks ago I woke up with pretty severe sharp pain on the right side of my right breast. The pain persisted for several days and I decided to visit with my surgeon as well as my OB. Back up a couple years, I received a letter from Allergen that my textured silicone implants were being recalled because they found that they contributed to ALCL, anaplastic large cell lymphoma. My surgeon and OB both agreed back then that removing my implants were not worth the risks and that I should leave them be unless I started to notice symptoms. Now here we are at 7.5 years and I am showing symptoms. My OB scheduled a mammogram and ultrasound to rule out growths in my breast, everything came back great there but the swelling was getting progressively worse, my surgeon urged me to have them removed. I scheduled my surgery for 2 weeks later. More in next post
