Let me start by saying... I did my research! Dr Kapadia's reviews are what made me to drive and hour and 20min to see him. To make a long story short.. After reading all these glowing 5 star reviews, I was more than excited and confident I had the right doctor to inject my tear troughs restoring my tired eyes. Well..unfortunately that didn't happen. Dr K's consult and injection was all of 15min. I tried to voice concerns over my last bad tear trough injection experience but he seemed to not care as he spoke over me politely rushing along the appointment as he had other patients waiting. His response.. "I've done this probably 1,000 times". So I thought.. Great, I'll be happy. After a ..for lack of a better term.. slam, bam thank you ma'am appt, I left more than disappointed by his lack of care for my concerns.
I knew I was overfilled on the right side but he assured me it would be fine. Long story short.. I still have tired looking eyes, I am overfilled on my right side and under filled on my left and the product is not correctly sitting in the right place to properly fill the hollows. WHAT I WILL SAY ON HIS BEHALF... He was professional enough to refund my money which I very much appreciated. I wasn't going to write a review for that reason alone but it still upsets me as I look in the mirror 8 months later and still see a tired but young 39 year old who could look fantastic if the time was taken to assess my particular eye area needs. Fillers are not cheap! Getting this removed and reinjected will cost upwards of $1000

Thank you for sharing your experience. I hope you find support in the community.

I had the same experience.
I also had under eye injections, and I had two full on black eyes for 3 weeks, and my eyes still don't look good. I actually think they look worse now than before.

Bruising definitely comes with the territory when getting under eye injections as the area is extremely vascular.
With that said.. It is also a hard area to achieve a pleasing outcome with BUT, my very first experience with it(with a different doctor) had great results. The second time I went back to the first doctor, not so great so I had him remove it and I went to Dr K. I've also learned that Belatero, which is another filler, is probably the best option for this area as it doesn't expand with water. What you see is what you get. It's really all in the skill of the doctor. When I got the 'rushed' consult, I should have said I would wait. Having the ultimate confidence in your physician is key! Haven't decide if I want to remove it or wait until it disapates to start over and try someone new. Did you go to Dr K?

yes I did go to him because of all the wonderful comments.
My eyes now look like I have dark circles under them, but I will not be returning for a follow up because there is no way I can go another 3 weeks with black eyes!!!
I may look into a dr that uses a cannula instead.

Good idea. Good luck and let me know if you find someone good!

Hey there rapture. I'm getting ready to try from three different doctors. George yang in nyc, (who literally seems incredible with under eye fillers making less go a long way due to his supposed incredible technique). He seems to be the Go to for a guy great at the under eyes area. My second runner up is Steven aPearlman in nyc who seems really good at under eye as well and apparently great with voluma so it gives me hope. Both yang and pearlman are expensive and pearlman has videos of him injecting on YouTube as well as yet another Maryland Doctor, Doctor Naderi who seems great with fillers as well and also has an extensive YouTube channel showing all types of injections. He is 900 per syringe of voluma which is better than the other two I just listed which charge 1200 for a vial (although I'm sure they're great too)... Lastly apparently Theda Kontis in Maryland wrote one of the books on fillers and injection techniques so maybe she's an awesome injector I'm Not entirely sure but she seems highly knowledgable. Talked to her via email and her rates are also incredibly reasonable at 500 something a syringe of restylane, and 850 per syringe of voluma and every filler you get (of one kind, you get the fifth free in her loyalty program..) bad part is I talked to be on email and addressed my concerns. She was all peachy at first.... And then out of nowhere became very cold just giving me a one word answer with a period in my email "nope." ..:. How highly professional. You can be a great doctor but if you're a jerk I don't want you near me... Although her prices and deals seem incredibly tempting.... As well as some of her credentials... But she seems short with her patients which concerns me. She gives free consults though.... Overall I think I trust his under eye expertise the most. You have Got to see his results with twelve hundred worth of restylane. (It's like eight fifty a syring and five hundred for half. With 1.5 syringes be eradicated a girl's tear troughs in such a way that I feel most other skilled doctors would need at least 2 full syringes of restylane to achieve...

Sorry for the novel. I'm nervous too.

I am surprised at all the negative comments, I had an upper blepharoplasty with Dr Kapadia and it was the best $ 4000 I spent in my entire life ( or whatever the exact amount) I am happy every time I look in the mirror, and chose him based on dozens of before/ after pictures that looked just like mine. very surprised he would mess up a simple filler

I also consulted with him and was not impressed with how he poo-pooed my concerns. Now reading this I am glad I have decided against.

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Lopa Gupta in New York City. She's on Park Avenue but her prices were reasonable. I was so happy with what she did with my tear troughs, a friend went in and had the same thing done.

What does she charge and what product did she use to fill the tear trough?

rapture05, I just got this Reply from RealSelf, so that is the reason for the delay in my response. I really don't remember what she charged nor what she injected. I went to her with Juvederm under the eyes that another doctor had put in, but it was too heavy for that area and caused "bags" under the eyes, so she injected something to dissolve that.

I commented a few days ago but will also add that Dr. Kapadia was not at all interested in looking too carefully at my eyes or face. He simply gave me a hand mirror and asked me what I wanted help with, and without even touching my skin, eyes, or cheeks, he made some quick suggestions and didn't explain much else. I didn't feel comfortable proceeding with treatment because my issue is fairly atypical to begin with, and I would rather work with a doctor who is more thorough in the initial examination.

That's unfortunate but good for you for following your instincts. Wish I had
