Hi. Im considering using this dr as well. I'd love to follow your journey. Do you have a surgery IG? If so please follow me @barbie_dollhtx
Hey! How did it go? I paid my deposit but the date I wanted was already booked
How was your flight? We're you comfortable? We're you worried about blood clots?
How are you doing at 7 month post op?
hey! i am feeling great! definitely need to keep an eye on my intake. i can feel myself wanting to eat more. still stuck with the protein shakes. i still get full after 2-4 bites of a meal. lost 50lbs postop!
Congrats! And yeah I'm 9 months out. And depending on what I'm eating 4 bites is enough. But it not often. I still have to watch my intake too. I still feel like I can eat more but it just sits on my chest. I would suggest trying cauliflower bowls like atkins. Or stews that has actual substance. Also just start playing around with foods so you know what your body accepts and what it will not.
Were you able to drive when you got home?

POD#1 s/p VSG

surgery was at 10:30. all i remember was being wheeled in. saw the anesthesiologist give me IV medications. and then i remember waking up in recovery. i asked for pain meds immediately and passed out every 5-10 mins in my room. i had some reflux and nausea, and i received iv zofran and a ppi. it helped. you get iv tylenol here. which is super nice. back in the states, iv tylenol is expensive as f and reserved for orthopedic patients in some hospitals. the nursing staff is super nice. it helps speaking spanish to relay my issues.
so today; pod#1 goals. keep walking. stop hiccuping and use my incentive spirometer to prevent atelectasis. plus shower. and remove this drain.

You had a drain??? Is that common? I thought you didn't have that w/ VSG

just weighed in. first time in years standing on a scale

starting weight. 210. fudge. so much.
i haven’t stood on a scale in years. kept thinking i was losing weight with keto and diet. and running around at work.

this is to hold myself accountable. got blood work done. chest x-ray complete. antibiotics running.

room is awesome and clean. the nursing staff is kind. and polite. haven’t met dr. maytorena as of yet.
