Scheduled Consultation With Dr. Shiloh!!!

So after my last update I’ve been feeling even worse about these hideous veins on my legs. With no luck at the Vein Clinics Of America OR with Dr. Bash, I pretty much gave up all hope on treating my spider veins. Vein Clinics of America was a MASSIVE waste of time, and I highly suggest you go elsewhere for this type of procedure. They’re all about taking your money! Not once did I even see a doctor or specialist during my visit. And they were the most expensive! At $450/session, needing multiple sessions, each session limited to exactly 45 minutes. So then I tried Dr. Bash. I can’t say much of his work because I didn’t get that far. His bedside manner alone turned me off instantly. He was very condescending and insinuating that I was lying about the pain and swelling I experience. Needless to say, I never returned. I felt hopeless. And have been loathing the idea of hot summer days and shorts! Summer has ALWAYS been my fave time of year, and after having my breast augmentation done with Dr. Bottger I was so excited to finally be able to wear a bathing suit without feeling insecure and flat-chested. But the veins on my legs kinda killed that excitement.

Until I noticed a comment on my review from Dr. Shiloh. I am so grateful he reached out to me and gave me hope once again. After doing lots of research and reading reviews, I decided to stop procrastinating and putting this off. Spring is HERE!! Which means summer is literally right around the corner! I FINALLY made the call and scheduled my consultation with Dr. Shiloh for Monday, April 9th!!! As excited as I am, I’m a little scared and nervous to get my hopes up again. But I'm remaining cautiously optimistic. I spoke with his Nurse Manager, Jason, who was super sweet and nice, and very informative. He explained a lot about the whole process and treatment. And he was upfront about the insurance and what they would cover over the phone. He told me if I had to go the cosmetic route and pay out of pocket, at only $300 per session, that Dr. Shiloh may perform the procedure the same day as my consult!!

I will def be updating as soon as I can, hopefully with great news!! I just wanna feel good again about my legs and not have to hide in pants all summer long.

I Give Up

So I went to see a Vascular Surgeon and such a waste of time. Pretty much told me since I have only spider veins and not mild to severe varicose veins there isn't anything that can really be done. He gave me a prescription for the compression stockings that I'm supposed to wear for 3 months. He said the insurance companies will refuse to cover any treatment before giving the stockings a try. He said to come back in 3 months after wearing the stockings and then he could do an ultrasound to see if there is any reflux issues going on within the veins. But he said any treatment I might get would be purely cosmetic and not guaranteed to solve the problem. I am so disheartened and discouraged. I guess I'm just stuck with these hideous legs and feet forever. I feel like he downplayed all my symptoms and didn't believe me when I told him I do experience discomfort and mild pain (esp when my ankles swell up and I can barely walk!). He was a bit condescending and said he didn't understand how these "superficial" surface spider veins could cause me any pain. I'm just over it. Why would I lie? Why would I take time off from work, go to all these appointments and spend money on copays just to make all this up? So frustrated (sigh, deep breaths).

What to do next....

I never thought this would be so difficult! But I greatly appreciate all the feedback and advice. I've been "Googling" like crazy and doing some research trying to figure out where to go from here. I wasn't sure if I should see a dermatologist, a vascular specialist....so I saw made an Appt with a Vascular Surgeon near me, Dr. Bash. I made sure to choose a reputable, WELL experienced Vascular surgeon who's been practicing for many years and has performed many procedures! My Appt is for July 3rd. Yay! I'm trying not to be too optimistic but I'm excited to see a REAL doctor. My family doctor was of no help and pretty much told me there's nothing that can be done for me. NOT what I wanted to hear, just a major "Debbie Downer!" Lol! But I'll be back to update after seeing Dr. Bash, hopefully with good news.
