After months of driving my fiancé crazy...

After months of driving my fiancé crazy researching doctors, I have finally found the ONE!

For the past several months, I have looked at more noses than I care to admit, read more reviews than Siskel and Ebert wrote, and googled doctors til my little fingers developed arthritis. I finally narrowed it down to four surgeons. I scheduled consultations with three out of the four doctors. The first two, although both good, didn't impress me enough to book. Guess third time was a charm!

I must say, prior to even going to my consultation with Dr. Kassir, I was already quite impressed. His staff is by far top notch! They go above and beyond to make you feel important and special. I honestly felt like a celebrity client! I didn't expect this...especially since the staff at the other two places weren't nearly as accommodating.

October 22nd - Consultation day arrived! I was very excited, yet nervous at the same time. After all, this was DR. KASSIR! I was greeted by Sanela, the patient coordinator and she immediately put me at ease. The staff offered me coffee, tea and even chocolate! How could you NOT love this place?

After filling out some paperwork, I met with Dr. Mojarradi. He took tons of pictures of my nose at different angles. He asked me some questions and answered all of mine. He also showed me pictures of recent rhinoplasty surgeries done by Dr. Kassir.

Moments later, I was greeted by Dr. Kassir. I felt as I already knew him. Possibly due to the stalkerish research I've done on his work the past few months ..????
Dr. Kassir is quite possibly one of the sweetest and most humble surgeons I've met. It's pretty amazing actually, given his exceptional credentials. Dr. Kassir listened to what I wanted and offered his advice. I couldn't be happier.
For the first time in the past few months...I felt confident enough to make a decision. I called my fiancé from the office and booked my surgery the same day. I must also mention...I booked my surgery BEFORE seeing any sort if digital imaging simply based on my gut feeling and of course, all the research I had done.

I scheduled the first available appointment. I was lucky that he had an opening in New York a little over two weeks away. I took the date and paid in full!

So my rhinoplasty journey begins.... November 8th is the BIG DAY!

I'm so excited for you! I haven't gone on a consultation yet but I've been researching surgeons & have considered Dr. Kassir too. Would you mind sharing before and after pictures of the surgery after you are done? I would love to see how it turns out for you! From your profile picture, the shape of our noses look similar & I would love to see the after results. Keep us posted! Best of luck!!!!

Hey JessieGirl92! I just posted some pics. Sorry about my little disguise lol Definitely go to a consultation with Dr. Kassir. You will absolutely love him. I also went to consultations with Dr. Miller and Dr. Joseph. Both great surgeons...but Dr. Kassir definitely stood out amongst the rest. I will def post some after pics :) Good luck in your search! Let me know of I can help in any way. I researched for months!!! Lol

Lol. I like the sunglasses...! How do you think the consultations went with Miller and Joseph? I've heard mixed reviews about the both of them. There is so much information to research for a surgery like this... it's overwhelming! I've saved for a rhinoplasty for almost three years now and I want to make the best decision I can. Do you mind me asking what price Kassir estimated for a primary rhinoplasty? I've seen on here a lot of the estimates have been $10,000 and up. I love his before and after pictures & the quality of the work I've seen but that's a little expensive. Then again, I would rather have it done right the first time! Decisions.... decisions... haha

Consultations with Dr. Miller and Dr. Joseph both went ok. I left both consultations very unsure. Dr. Miller was very serious and all business. His staff does the digital imaging, not him. I didn't like that Dr. Miller's staff was sort if pushy on setting a date for the surgery. I wasn't even completely set on him and still had other consultations. He accepts insurance, credit cards, and pretty much all types of payments. Consultations are free. Dr. Miller was the most affordable at $6,900. He doesn't charge facility fees since he does them in his own facility. Dr. Joseph has a fun type of personality and tries to put you at ease. He seems to know what he's doing from the before and after pics. However, he uses silicone injections for any post surgery imperfections. That scared me a little. His staff wasn't too pushy. He doesn't accept credit cards, only cash or care credit. Consultations are $150, but deducted from the service if you choose him. Dr. Joseph quoted me about $9,600, which includes rhinoplasty, anesthesia, and facility fees. Again, both these surgeons seemed great...but my gut instinct led me to pick Dr. Kassir. I also admired Dr. Kassir's work. I was immediately impressed with Dr. Kassir's staff from the moment I called for an appointment. They called me prior to my appointment to ask if I had any questions or concerns. They were super sweet and helpful. At my consultation, the dr took tons of pictures and answered all my questions. I loved that he seemed to be on the same page with what I wanted to do. Dr. Kassir was the priciest. His rhinoplasties start at $12,000+. I feel he's worth it. He does TONSSSSSS of rhinoplasties! That's one of his specialties.

That's helpful to hear a second opinion! I'm planning on having surgery in March but I'm going to start making consultations in November. I'm definitely considering Kassir as my surgeon. I'm excited for you and I'll be sure to follow your progress these next few months! If you need anything at all, feel free to message me. Good luck on the big day!

So here are some current pics of my nose. I have a bit of an "Italian" nose. I don't have a dorsal hump or anything. I actually really like my bridge and hope to keep it the same. Dr. Kassir actually is on the same page and stated my bridge is perfect. I'm looking to refine my tip (especially the little cartilage point at the tip of my nose) and maybe take a little length from the profile. My surgery is less than two weeks away! I'm actually awaiting. I'm just hoping I love my new nose, especially since I all of a sudden don't hate my current nose...just needs some tweaking :)

Yesterday was the big day! The surgery went well. Dr. Kassir and his staff were incredible.

Immediately after surgery, I noticed some minor bruising and swelling. I wasn't in any pain at all, only discomfort. Took some extra strength Tylenol for my headache. My mouth was super dry, so I kept myself very hydrated.

Day 1 Post-rhinoplasty

Sleeping was extremely uncomfortable. I woke up every hour or so with a very dry mouth. In addition, my neck is in so much pain from sleeping upright.

I woke up to more bruising and a lot more swelling, especially around my eyes. I look like an MMA fighter who received the shitty end of the stick lol Still no pain, just a lot of discomfort. I have to change my drip pad quite often. Can't wait to remove the packing tomorrow!

Can't wait to see your new nose! I had surgery 2 days after you and am having a really rough time so it's nice to see others who got new noses at the same time as me. Hope you're doing well :)
November 15, 2014
Hi! I am 7 days post op and although the recovery has been very easy I am mortified at what I look like. It is not me and doesn't look right on my face. I'm freaking out. But I am hoping that it will change with time. ugh. Is your cast off yet?
User Avatar
November 15, 2014
Not till Tuesday. I feel the same way and I had sooo much swelling. I was super depressed the first 4 days but I'm feeling better now that the swelling is going down. I also have internal splints which are basically giant tubes going through my sinuses and that's freaking me out. Everything's out in a few days and I can't wait. I feel so hideous now and I just really hope this was all worth it.

OMG funny you should mention internal splints. I'm wondering if that's what I have. It's super uncomfortable and feels stuffy. I thought everything came off the day the cast came off, but I don't know. :/ when I touch it, it feels like a lot of blockage or cartilage, I don't know. But I'm so nervous about it. Ugh patience for all of us I guess

Did you get a septoplasty as well? I think that's the only time they use internal splints and they come out when the cast comes off. It's normal to feel pressure and stuffiness and there's still swelling.
User Avatar

It feels strange. Like I have stuff stick in there. I don't get it. I can't really breathe through my nose. He was supposed to do septoplasty as well, but now I'm concerned whether he did or not. I had a severe deviated septum and it still looks exactly the same. I'm praying it's due to swelling...but now I don't know. Maybe I'm just freaking out. Lol
November 17, 2014
I'm glad to hear that the surgery went well :) It's hard to be patient but hang in there. I saw a question asked on here that was similar to the problem you are having with congestion. From what the doctors responded, it sounds like it is normal to have congestion after the rhinoplasty from swelling even after the cast is removed. Hope that helps to calm some of your nerves! Good luck with the rest of your recovery :) http://www.realself.com/question/dix-hills-new-york-i-septo-rhinoplasty-doctor-removed-splints-and-cast-yesterday
