I Loved my First Set of Veneers...but Not Happy with my Current - Wausau, WI

I might just be a little OCD, but I'm currently hating this second set of veneers. I had my four front teeth done in 2009 and absolutely loved them! About 5 years later I got a chip in the bottom of my left front veneer. My dentist replaced the two left ones and left the right side. They looked unproportional to me and I was very unhappy with them, so he agreed to replace all 4 of the front teeth again. This was last Wednesday. He told me to give it a few days to let my gum tissue settle. Well...I still think they look unproportional!! The front left one is even darker than the rest and just a tad longer. Why can't he get this right?! Should I try a different dentist or keep asking him to fix it or am I just overreacting? This is the 3rd set that I've had placed. I just want to cry :(

Lyssa - I do see the difference that is bothering you. I am The same way about my teeth! Maybe your dentist will be able to fix this with another try? What I want to know is that he did four veneers for $2500? I need six & would be willing to fly to Wisconsin for that price

I really can't remember what I paid, since it was such a long time ago, I think it was closer to $4000 for all four teeth. I called today and voiced my concerns, he was able to get me in to see him tomorrow! So I'll keep you posted :)

Good for you - be very nice but firm - you do have a difference that would bother me too. Tell him there is a lady in AZ who would fly out for veneers if he give me a good deal

I just got a quote today in WI for 6 front teeth... it's just under $9000.00.

A good deal is nothing if your teeth need to be fixed after you have them fixed..... Find the right dentist before ever considering an invasive procedure like this. Please!!

Agree! I would have rather paid more for them to get it right the first time! It shouldn't be taking this long for just me to notice that there is clearly issues with them.

A "good" dentist and lab kept me in temps for 8 months, and still I ended up with flaws, because I agreed to it......... Lmao. It's mind games. Dentists should not be trusted.

You and me both. Also what was the time frame from beginning until you had your veneers put in?
January 11, 2017
The second set looks thicker.... And the centrals do not match in size. I think a good lab can make them better, but your dentist will tell you it's because of your gum line.....
I would have them fixed if your dentist is willing.
Good luck.

What lab is the office using? Do not seat them again if there is any hesitation....

And now I see the color difference in the centrals...... Not fun at all.

I met with him yesterday and he is sending sending a mold of my teeth to a different lab. He is having them send back a 3D model of what they would do, back, so we can look at them together. He did mention that he believes it's my gum line and I might need to have some lasering done to fix that
January 11, 2017
Like I said, he'd say it was your gum line.... It's obvious to me that the centrals are just plainly different sizes.

Yeah, and I totally agree! I will see what they come up with. I am not going to "just settle" this time. It's just hard for me to see them when they are all bloody after having them placed. They look good when I look at them in the dentist office, but then I get home and really inspected them and hated them. I plan to really inspect them this time. My teeth feel sensitive now from them being redone so many times

They sent a mold back of my teeth and I still didn't like the outcome...so they are sending it back again

The front ones aren't proportioned. Why couldn't he make a cast of the old ones ?

I've been going back and forth with my dentist. He has redone my veneers twice since my first set. I loved my first ones and I'm just not happy with the symmetry these new ones are giving. I asked about my gum tissue and he said it could be easily fixed. Why are they not seeing what I'm seeing?!

That was definately a bad wax up.... I'm not even sure the centrals were straight and together.....
Omg.
The can make a wax up look like anything. I'm think they were trying to accentuate your gum line in that...
My wax up was perfect, but my teeth sure didn't turn out that way. Dentists and labs are unbelievable. I hope they will do it right and not force you to go else where...

Thank you! I'm thinking they did a mold of my teeth with this current set of veneers and sent it to the lab...which is why they look so similar. I'm just so irritated that they seem to be oblivious and make it seem like I'm the crazy one! Haha!

They do! and they will! Continue to stand your ground. If you disagree, keep pushing. Otherwise you'll get what I got ;)

I think your teeth need to be a little longer. Or maybe he's right about the gum line. They seem short in the pics.

Update!

It’s been over a year since I’ve updated. I decided to wait on any procedures since I found out I was expecting my 3rd. I had a gingivectomy about 8 or so months ago and just received my 2nd one today! I’m much happier with how my gumline looks now and my dentist has covered all of my cosmetic dental work.

Did the dentist replace with new veneers after the ginvectomy?

No he didn't yet. We are trying to correct my gumline issue first!
