Painful Tire Under My Chin/Think Carefully About This Procedure if You Are Older! - Washington, DC

2 1/2 months: Pain and numbness mostly gone

fashionbizarre
$1,500
Really it's been within the last 2 weeks that the last of the pain and numbness ended. Finally. There's still a tiny spot right under my chin that still feels funny. Now comes the decision whether to go for the second treatment (and two more months of feeling like a freak) or just going for a lower facelift. I see the photos of the people who've had the Biltmore Lift and am so envious.

I did a lot of price comparisons in my area and the price for 1 treatment ranged from $600 - $1200. The lowest price was actually the dermatologist who has great recognition in my area for quality service and awesome patient care. He did my first procedure and told me that the swelling and tenderness could last a week or longer depending upon the patient. He said some patients had swelling and soreness for months, but all of the issues eventually resolved in less than 4 months. His assistant actually had it done without lidocaine and because it was painful, he made the decision to numb patients before doing the Kybella injections. For the lowest price in my area, I feel I was treated very well. I will need 1 maybe 2 more treatments, but spacing them out 2 months apart will help with the cost. Maybe you can shop around and show your doctor that someone is offering it at a lower cost and she might match their price. Good luck and thank you for the updates!

I have to say had a Biltmore lift with Dr. Harley in Ashville and am super pleased! Almost 3 weeks out and just keeps getting better! For $6500 I felt it was a better choice then filling my face full of juvaderm or fat transfer! Hope this helps.

I'm envious of all the Biltmore Lift patients--you all look wonderful!

I feel the same way about that Biltmore lift. It is reasonably priced, and every single person on here who's had it done looks amazing. I keep considering getting my my derm calls a Neck Lipo, where they suction out the fat and then laser the inside so that the skin "shrink wraps." She said everyone loves those results. The price? 5,000. Ugh. So I am back to weighing that or the Biltmore lift and the traveling and time off work that entails. Tough decision!

I agree age has alot to do with results of Kybella. I truly believe you were ripped off I am 55 and I only needed 2 treatment. My Dr. Was upfront about the age limit and told me that 55 was the cutoff for Kybella I didn't have any of the problems you are experiencing and it was 650 per treatment. Although I see the absence of the fat pocket I also see now how old my neck looks I'm not blamingamong the Kybella I

Oops what I was trying to say is i wish I had waited to get a neck lift because the Kybella didn't give me the results I had hoped f o r ! Goodluck sorry you are going through this but if I were you I'd say no to more Kybella and go the neck lift route.

Thanks. Leaning that direction. Also asked Derm Doc if instead of a 2nd Kybella treatment I might have more success with a Cool Sculpting treatment. Anyone gone that route?

Based a lot on your experiences, I am! (I responded to your first comment above.) I'm 58, and I cancelled kybella three times, as I was somewhat adverse to all those needles....and then I read your account (thank you so much for sharing). I had a coolmini session 10 days ago, and it was a piece of cake (aside from just sitting still for an hour). No pain, no redness; swelling not bad at all. Somewhat numb still even now, but not at all bothersome. it was $800 for the session, and a second one is anticipated in 6 weeks. From what I've read, it looks like some practices are using the 2 modalities (kybella and cool mini) in combination. I'm thinking I might end with one kybella session following the 2nd cool mini, but it looks like just the opposite is being done, too....did your Derm Doc recommend it? Keep me posted, and I'll keep you posted! Thanks so much!

2 months after Kybella

I still have some limited pain right under my chin but almost gone. I don't think anyone will see any difference in the before and after photos. But shooting photos from this angle I did notice some sun spots I hadn't noticed before....

I am so glad you posted your experience. What has happened to you unfortunately is just what I would think would happen. I am almost 58 and have been going on consults with various doctors. I am scheduled to try micro cool sculpting under the chin on the neck to reduce some fat there. Not a lot, so maybe the cool sculpting will tide me over until I pull the trigger on a facelift. Good luck to you. Keep us posted as to your progress.

You look great! You don't look like you need it. What does cool sculpting do? I believe it decreases fat deposits... And can leave sagging skin behind!

My skin is in really good shape, so I am hoping any sag would be minimal. I guess because the fat cells die off gradually, the skin has time to adjust to the change. I have some fatty deposits that formed years after the liposuction on either side of the voice box, high under the jawline area. I will post probably next week with some before pictures and go through the process on realself. Cool sculpting kills off the fat cells by freezing them and then they die off on their own. The results are good. My Dr. even did it on his "love handles." Looks great!

I think that with a couple more months, you will see results. Liposuction really works, and I will keep you posted on the cool sculpting now that they have the neck attachment. Keep in touch with your progress.

Please let me know how your procedure turns out (cool sculpting). Are you seeing a doctor in Washington DC? I was looking at Kaybella and Ultheraphy and neither of them seem to be a good source for the little fat under the chin.

People have asked for photos. As embarrassing as they are to me, I want to share so you can evaluate whether you think this procedure will work for you--or if you want to look like this for a month.

I know what you mean! Posting pics is hard as his is such a personal thing. I hope you start seeing results soon! It's hard to think about going back for a second round when there are so little, if any, from the first. I am three days out from my second and saw very minimal results from the first. And it's so expensive to keep go back again and again and again....let us know what you decide! And I'll certainly update on my second round once it's healed...if I don't see much result from that one either I'll warn you for sure!
January 22, 2016
Thanks as I am considering a second round soon--while I can still wear turtlenecks
January 22, 2016
The same thing with me. 3 weeks after, and still a bull frog throat.

Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone!

Kathy , No I do not see where this worked, how heartbreaking for your pocketbook and heart.
