How has the stitching on the breasts healed by now? Did you use silicone sheets to reduce scarring? I’m contemplating a reduction this year, so any help or insight is appreciated. I am also in the Chicago area. Did you see several doctors before choosing?

Surgury over! Now at home!

Marmaid1974
I went in Oct.3rd @ about noon. My insurance covered a night in the hospital. Unfortunately I had to stay 3. My surgury went great, but my Asthma flare up kept me from going home : (
Went home on the 6th and my healing is going wonderfully!
Taking my Hydrocodon and amoxicillan, keeping my drain tubes stretched and drain bulbs emptied. No drains in my breasts only tummy. No pain in my breasts, only tummy as well.
So far I am very happy! The first days were rough for me because of the asthma, if I had not had that issue I believe I would be a little further along in my recovery.I will try to get some pics taken to post.

They have the surgery for October 16 but waiting hear more on insurance. I hope you have relief in your back and shoulders now, I have the same problem. I have asthma too so I know how it can flair up. Keep us updated and happy healing!

Yeah today my asthma has been bad. I say you do feel a difference already, great! I pray I get a call to go on with my surgery.

Well your asthma will have to be under control before surgury, atleast for me it had to. Trust me, dealing with it after surgury was the worst! What are you taking to prevent ur asthma attacks? I take the advair diskus 2x a day They also took chest xray 2 wks before my surgury.

I am taking Dulera 2x day and rescue inhaler. Ad air is good, I used to take that. I go to asthma dr regularly and I am keeping it under control.

oh good! When my asthma gets real bad Doc will give me prednisone(steroids) to zap it out of me. Unfortunately the hospital could not give me that cuz prednisone can lead to higher risk of infection : (

Yeah I had to take steroids before it was so bad. Are you in a lot of pain? I am going to call today and see if any updates, I am tired of waiting. Why would they schedule the surgery if nothing is in place? I don't get it.

Personally ? Pain was not an issue for me. My breasts are healing nicely and dont hurt me at all. I had the tummy tuck as well, so I think that played a roll in my breathing because i had bindings on breats and tummy. It made it very hard to breath! My insurance took a little over 2 months to approve. If it gets too close to surgury date and they still have not heard from the ins. they will prob bump back surgury. Sounds like like they r banking on u being aproved. You still need all your pre op stuff done before surgury too. 3 weeks before surgury I had mammogram, blood work, urine test and chest xray done.

Ok thanks for telling me this. I hope you do have a good recovery and love your results when you are healed. I called today and insurance wanted the clinical information so that's good news. Is your back feeling better so far? I have arthritis in my back from my large breasts so I hope the br helps it.

I have asthma but it's been under control so long I hadn't even been worried about it creating problems, yikes! Do you take any preventative medications? I am on advair (but not the best about remembering to take it religiously, I need to get better leading up to my surgery) and don't use my rescue inhaler often at all (maybe once a month or less and I could get by without it even when I do use it). No ER trips in years (they used to be regular before advair came along). I have had pneumonia a couple of times in my life and I know that my lungs are compromised even when I'm perfectly healthy from scar tissue (and no, I don't smoke at all). Did the anesthesiologist do anything extra to prep for your asthma? Your pics look great by the way!
October 22, 2014
yes advair! I make sure i take regularly ever since Doc told me I could end up with COPD later in life, and no, I've never smoked a day in my life, never will! The anesthesiologist didnt do any extra to prep me. 2 wks before my surgury, I had chest xray to make sure my lungs were good. Take ur Advair!!! : )

Surgury, all paid for. Oct 3rd at 10:20! Gahhhh! Got my special wash to use before surgury, Hibiclens, to avoid infection. My overnite bag is half packed, I get to stay in hospital for a night.
