Hi everyone,
First, I want to say I am writing this review 15 days post op for my rhinoplasty I had with Dr. Grigoryants on 10/18/16, so there is still a good amount go swelling. All of the pictures were taken with my Canon rebel with the flash on. And I don’t have makeup on in some of them too, so beware!
I decided to have a nose job because I have always disliked how my nose would widen and flatten when I smiled. I told the Dr that was the sole reason I wanted to have the procedure. We decided on narrowing and defining the tip, decreasing the nostrils and smoothing the bridge (I had the tiniest hump on my bridge but figured I should just have it shaved since I was having the prodecure anyway.) I basically told him I wanted a small and cute nose.
Like I mentioned, it’s been 2 weeks since surgery and I’ve gone through a bunch of different emotions and from what I’ve read, this is completely normal. It seems that my new nose looks different everyday. I know I need to be patient because I still have a long way to go before the swelling goes down and the nose settles but I needed to post this review and get it off my chest since I don’t want to discuss it with my family and friends. They already think I am crazy for having the operation!
I am not thrilled with my new nose for two reasons - there is a dent on the left side of the tip and the lower bridge appears to be crooked. I did not have either of these issues before the surgery, so it has caused a bit of stress for me. I did email the Dr and they told me it’s normal to have uneven swelling but did not comment on the dent. I’ve been doing research and it appears that I will likely have to have a revision rhinoplasty or fillers in the future in order to correct this. Please keep in mind I have not discussed this with the Dr yet, it is just based off of what I have read. So, I am super bummed about this because: 1) I really don’t want to spend anymore money on my nose 2) I’m now self conscious about the dent and it’s all I see when I look in the mirror.
I’m not writing this review to bad mouth the Dr. I read all the reviews on him and viewed the pictures and felt confident about my decision to have him perform the surgery. He has an amazing portfolio and I was very excited to get one of his noses. I just think things happen sometimes and you have to accept that. The mistake I made with all of this is that I did not prepare myself for the possibility that my nose might now turn out how I wanted it to be. I just thought it was going to look super amazing and perfect and it does not, and that’s okay too, I suppose.
I’m sorry if my thoughts are all over the place - like I said, I needed an outlet and and am hoping to hear some of the communities thoughts on how you all dealt with the issues you were not expecting post surgery. I will probably update this in a month or so to show everyone how I am healing. I’m hoping the next update will have a positive result!

I think you feel the same as anyone else going through with this procedure. I think it is just swelling, though. Give it time, you will look amazing. The profile looks great, this is usually the case with his other patients and they have a hard time being patient waiting for the swelling to go down to have a better frontal view of their new nose. Stay positive!

thanks for the encouraging words! i'm normally a patient person but this has just been a struggle. i have been looking at other pictures of patients a few months after surgery and they all look great, so i have hope that in time i will love my new nose.

I think you're overreacting your nose looks fine. Give it time remember it takes up to a year to see the final results! Make sure to tape it to reduce swelling and don't sleep on your sides
November 7, 2016
i have been taping it every night and it definitely helps! it's very difficult for me to sleep on my back so i have to sleep on my sides.

your absolutly beautiful!
I am sure the swelling will go down, I have a surgery date coming and I also will ask him

thank you! the swelling has gone down even more since i posted this review and i am slowly starting to accept the changes and like how it looks. good luck with your surgery!
November 7, 2016
yes it is! the swelling around the tip and the middle of the bridge takes the longest to go away, but i'm already seeing improvements. each day it slowly gets better!
November 7, 2016
is the bridge of your nose wider or wide? I know some girls were concerned about that
November 7, 2016
it's still hard to tell, but it doesn't look any wider than it was prior to surgery. it's too swollen to tell at the moment. when are you having your surgery?

Hi, dr grig did my nose in march. The bridge swelling on my nose didn't go down until after two months, and I didn't even have any bone/bridge work. (My tip was really crooked) I say wait a while more. However, if it's still not an improvement from your old nose, I believe dr will do a free or low cost revision. again, it's still swollen! I know it's hard to be patient, I couldn't stand waiting either!

it's nice to hear from other patients of his! i'm starting to have faith that i will look good in a few months :)

I understand your concern and you may end up being right however I will tell you it is way too soon to tell. It really does take the entire year to tell the final result. That doesn't meant you will like it but you have a lot of healing to do still and from what I see, it is better already but very swollen still. Hang in there!
November 7, 2016
thank you, i know i just have to be patient and i think i will end up enjoying the results.

I think you're just in the typical avatar stage! Try not to freak out yet (easier said than done I know) but I've been researching so much and this seems pretty typical for where you are in the healing process. Dr G doesn't generally mess up very much :) regardless, you still look beautiful!

thank you for the kind words, i'm starting to feel better already about all of this thanks to all the comments.

Your nose is still super swollen. I have a picture on my profile showing cast removal vs 1 month and you can see a huge difference in the swelling. After a month or two your nose will be significantly less swollen.
November 7, 2016
i just checked out your pictures - you look amazing! it gives me hope that i'll like the results in a few months once the swelling really goes down.
November 7, 2016
Thank you so much for sharing your experience so far! I have rhinoplasty surgery scheduled for Feb. 2017 with Dr. G. Our noses pre-op look very similar. I agree with everyone else, it is looking great for the current stage of healing! Waiting patiently and having faith it'll be okay is the hardest part!
November 7, 2016
ah, good luck! his team is awesome and will make you feel at ease. and thank you :)
November 7, 2016
wait at least 3 months and then show us photos. i'm telling based on personal experience
November 7, 2016
i think it's good to show the different stages of healing. it has certainly helped me feel better about the results hearing from other members who have gone through the same thing.
November 8, 2016
I'd like to see different stages of healing as well. But don't worry until 3 month mark :)
UPDATED FROM rspsocal
1 month post
6 weeks post op update
It's been just about 6 weeks since surgery and I still have mixed feelings about my nose. My breathing is back to normal so I'm thrilled about that. The dent on the left side of my tip has definitely not gone away and I look weird when I smile because of it. The swelling is getting slowly better but some days my nose looks puffier for sure. Most people can not tell I've had work done until I show them pictures and the general reaction is that it looks very natural. I'm seeing Dr. G next weekend and will address my concerns about the dent.

Hi pretty girl! Thank you so much for updating us. Please keep us posted on what he says to you at this follow up... I do see the slight indentation which isn't noticeable and does make it look very natural, there's also still a lot of swelling so hopefully everything will even out slightly more as that dissipates :)
November 28, 2016
Hi, i completely understand your mixed feelings. Though you are beautiful so the dent and the days that your nose is puffier will not been noticed by others as you see it when you look in the mirror. I think some of us just take longer time to heal! For me is almost 2 weeks and i'm still super swollen and do not like to see myself in the mirror. You should definitely discuss your concerns. Good luck!

Have you noticed any changes in the past month? Did Dr. Grigoryants have any helpful information at your last follow up? I hope everything is still healing well for you!

I feel like we are in the same boat! I had surgery with him mid November and I'm still pretty swollen, have asymmetrical nostrils, still real red/inflamed where the nostrils were cut and brought in, one side looks more swollen and the other side has a more noticeable 'dimple I call it' still fairly stuffed up, I feel like my fave is swollen, definitely look diff when I smile, like weird, I think my whole face is actually swollen, can't wait for my smile to come back but here it may be 3 months or could be longer depending on how I heal, nose is wider too. So atm I'm not thrilled but I know it's early still. Def look and feel similar to you. Hang in there this is a long process and have patience that it will work itself out! Xo

Hello, do not freak. Take a break form nose message boards. 6 weeks post op & I can see the swelling has gone down tremendously. But the truth is, it can take 2 years till you see the actual results of surgery. For me-- its been 5 years! But my results were nowhere near the precision & skill of Dr. G. I finally have the money saved & courage-- to get a revision. Seriously...you look incredible. I know its hard to look in the mirror, when you see (new) irregularities, but your nose is now "different" & you must give it at least 1 year to embrace your new look. You are gorgeous... your (new) nose looks amazing. Be patient.
I would still give it some time with the unevenness. I did a lot of research before surgery and have seen some horrible horrible uneven noses that turn out amazing yours is much more subtle.
As for the dent I didn't see it in the photos but hopefully when more swelling goes down that will work itself out too.
Best of luck to you and keep us updated <3
