Wonderful Experience
I am 12 weeks post abdominal, flanks, back and arms liposuction, and feeling great.
I embarked on this journey because it had been years of working out and dieting but the fat around my lower abdomen was not budging. I also naturally had fat upper arms that would not respond to any workouts. This pushed me to seek other ways of loosing this fat.
I am from Africa, where cosmetic surgery is still looked at as "taboo" and very superficial, and so not a lot of options when you need cosmetic surgery. I therefore had to do my research based on a couple of things; 1. a place I could trust 2. affordability (with quality) 3. Easy to obtain a visa 4. Certified Surgeon. My research led me to the wonderful Doctor Sameer in Mumbai India.
My initial consultation was via WhatsApp. I sent a couple of pictures to Dr. Sameer who got right back to me on what he thought was the best procedure for me. He suggested body contouring, and I asked him all the questions I had. We discussed prices and what it would take. I was left to further reflect on whether I wanted to go through with the procedure.
I am 43 years old and so, my initial thoughts were "I can not be a good candidate for lipo alone" given the fact that in my research, age came up quite a number of times, implying that age would be a big factor in most results. I did not want to have a tummy tuck whatsoever. To my relief, the doc confirmed I was a good candidate for lipo.
Anyways, I had a smooth journey, from the day of arrival at the facility in Thane Mumbai, to the surgery & after surgery (stayed at the facility for 10 days), warmly welcomed, talking to Dr. Sameer face to face was so refreshing and reassuring, answered all my questions and helped me overcome all my worries. They took my vitals and run all the necessary tests on the day of arrival, and the surgery was done the next day.
I was under GA during surgery and so did not know what was going on, only woke up to Dr. Sameer and his nurses surrounding me, I honestly wasn't feeling any pain but a little drowsiness from the anesthesia. I was able to talk to my sister on phone and dosed off again.
After I fully woke up, I realized I had drains inserted in me (one for fluid and the other for urine as it was not easy to get up and use the toilet).
The nurses did a good job in ensuring that I had my meds on time and helped me with everything I needed, making sure the meals were available when I needed them. It almost felt like home. Great great team at Dr. Sameer's clinic. Everyone was so kind and humble, bless their hearts. They made my stay easier since I had travelled alone.
My recovery journey has been great but not without hiccups. My body is very snatched and I look very good in clothes, am not yet used to looking this good. I never fell sick or had any kind of irritation.
I still have some swelling which is expected, and still wearing compression garments ( very irritating, you have to bear with them though).
However, my stomach is not flat yet, there is still a little pooch that has refused to go away, am hoping it will with time. It is not visible in clothes, I have one slightly big bump on the right side of my abdomen (mainly caused by creasing from garments - so I think), but over all I look good and very shapely.
My advice to anyone planning to have the same type of lipo, do enough research on after care because I feel like I was not aware of a lot of things that would have helped my results like ab boards, fitting compression garments (fitted to your size) as my garments were too tight around my thighs and I had to cut them multiple times to fit me without causing pain, I think they are the reason for my lumps and bumps too. So get sized and have an ab board, also use foam as early as possible and if you can start the lymphatic massages early (most people have advised as early as 3days post op) as then you won't suffer seromas, fibrosis, and other irregularities.
My results at 12 weeks though not perfect without clothes, they look absolutely perfect in clothes. The surgery was worth every penny, and Dr. Sameer and team were superb. I am forever grateful to them.
