2nd Check Up (12 Days Post Lipo)
So I went for my 2nd check up wit Dr Comins yesterday and I’m glad I did. After I showed him a couple of the areas I was concerned with he did an ultrasound and reassured me that the hardness is to be expected.
I’m so pleased I came in for another check up so I could get some reassurance on some of the hard areas and clarity on the lumpy painful one on my ribcage. It was literally hurting to sit, move around or hold a straight posture.
Dr Comins did an ultra sound on the area and decided to drain some of the fluid on the lump with a needle. I wasn’t expecting it so got a bit nervous but the process was far less painful than the lump itself and took less than a minute. I instantly felt an improvement but was told the seroma may return but it’s nothing to worry about. I have another check up next week to keep an eye on things and can get back in the gym within the next 2 weeks. For now I’m going to continue walking for exercise and have a couple more MLD sessions to ease the swelling.
I’m booked in on week 3 for another check up so fingers crossed the road to recovery remains smooth.

Sore and Lumpy! (Day 10)
I’ve noticed that since my 3rd MLD session on Thursday my stomach had gradually gotten more sore and lumpy in the interim (I had 3 in 1 week - Tues, Wed, Thurs as she doesn’t work Fridays). I’ve been doing the exercises at home and self massaging which provides instant relief from the hardness but then once the garment goes back on I’m tender in the areas where there’s pressure on the lumps. I started to find 2 tiny round lumps on my lower chest between my ribcage I’ve tried massaging out as you would a knot but it comes back.
I’m also finding the bottom of my lower area there’s like a hard ridge going across which is extremely tender. I have to keep rubbing it to soften it up but again after a period it turns hard. I presume all this is part of the healing process and is just scar tissue but as someone who’s never had any surgery before it’s a bit daunting at times.
I struggle to get comfortable to rest but I really want to move as I’m conscious I’m still sitting/ lying for periods of time.
I started walking over the weekend to see if that loosened my body up but I don’t know if it helped other than knackering me out and making me feel tender. I’d like to be more active but it’s probably too soon.
I have another check up this week so hopefully I’ll find out more about what I can do next...

1 Week Post Treatment and 3 MLD Treatments
I my 1st check up with Dr Comins on Monday (3 days after op) and seem to be healing well. Wounds didn't leak and scars almost disappeared.
I started MLD with Sue Levine (who doesn't work at the practice) but is amazing and has all the machines needed to get quick relief and results. My only regret is I didn't find her sooner as she suggested 24hrs after op is best to help with the pain and discomfort sooner. (I'll post a review about my MLD journey separately as it really is imperative to optimise results). If you can, maybe avoid having an op on Friday unless you get booked in for MLD for over the weekend/ monday in advance.
I've been able to be more mobile this week, and I think it's due to good MLD and drinking tonnes of water. The pain is more localised now, swelling is reducing daily and I'm on the tightest hooks of garment with room so i'll need to order a new one soon which although expensive I'm pleased about.
The only exercise I'm allowed to do at the moment is walking and stretching. It's a bit frustrating because once you start seeing results you're really keen to maintain them but patience is a virtue!
I've lost a few inches around my waist which I'm pleased about but I'm still swollen, hard and lumpy in places where the tissue still needs to break down. Self MLD helps and I tend to do this after a hot shower because that's when it's more comfortable but it feels quite gross and painful if I'm honest. Hopefully it will get easier...
