Great Results and a Comfortable, Happy Procedure!!
I had been struggling with saddlebags (outer thigh fat) since my mid-teens - The bumps were really really prominent, up to the point where I couldn't wear pants without them sticking out on either side, and my back looked square and really disproportionate to my body. I'd always been the right weight everywhere else, so when I tried to lose weight to reduce it I looked really thin everywhere else, with a slightly smaller saddlebag situation. It seemed like there was nothing I could do to lose it naturally, and so I started researching procedures to fix this. I think I had spent about 2 years of contemplating what to do, and was pretty set on getting it cool sculpted since I wasn't too keen on getting surgery for it. Though some aesthetic centers recommending I go ahead with coolsculpting, I didn't feel too confident with their analysis. After a visit to Fortis Hospitals in Bangalore, I was recommended to Dr. Gunasekar and made my first appointment in mid 2019. From my very first consultation, I knew I was happy with what I heard. The consultant in charge, Helen, walked me through literally everything - what this kind of fat deposit was, what kind of options there were to remove it, why I was a good candidate for liposuction, the difference between liposuction and vaser liposuction, the process and science behind the procedure, what kind of general risks and side effects there was, what I could expect the process to be like during as well as after, would it hurt (barely), the different types of anesthesia, how big/invasive the surgery was (its tiny, maybe a 1cm hole, slightly smaller) their previous experience with this kind of surgery (which was plenty), and what I could expect with the results and for maintenance. She was so detailed, reassuring, and knowledgable that I knew this was the right place, and I felt I wasn't just being told what I wanted to hear. I had come prepared with a list of questions, but she managed to answer everything and more before I even asked. We went in to speak with the doctor after this and I had a checkup, where he knew exactly what I was trying to accomplish, as well as touching on many of the points she had explained in the consultation. I had a concern about having the resulting shape be too masculine, which he addressed even before I brought it up and talked about adding a small fat transfer to the hip to curve out the shape, which was exactly what I was thinking, so knowing that he had the insight to do this before I asked made me really confident I was in good hands. This, paired with his experience, education, and the number of clients they'd had before (some being celebrity clients) made the decision easy. I went back home, discussed this with family, and came back in to confirm soon after.
From this, the process of the procedure was SO smooth, comfortable, friendly and well handled. We set a date, and I had a walk-through of their clinic rooms, and given a print-out of steps to take before the surgery. Helen, my consultant, was right there for every step of the process, which was probably the most comfortable part. I arrived the night before the surgery, settled into the room, and Helen was there bright and early for the surgery, for the preparation, and then inside the operation room. The surgery was about 4 hours, and I had opted for local anesthesia, which meant I felt slight pain during some parts of it, but Dr. GV was talking to me to make it easier, and Helen sat there right with me, she even pulled up a movie on her phone for me to watch. It felt like maybe 2 hours, I must've slept or been a little dazed so the time went by a little quicker. After the surgery, a nurse and Helen put me into a really tight compression garment, and I got back to my room. Looking at the results right after, even with the swelling and garment, I was SO happy - the bumps were gone!! 12 years of being so unhappy with these saddlebags, and they were finally. Gone. The nurse from this point on was also right there for the post-surgery help I needed, as well as on-premises nurses that came in promptly to check on my antibiotic drips, etc. After surgery, for the day I was at the hospital, there was leakage, which had been explained to me, and was a good thing and a normal part of the process. The nurse from my procedure came in the next day to help me take a shower, and she was also so sweet and comforting. All of the staff were great. Helen then came in, ran me through things I needed to do at home, and told me she'd see me in 3 days for my first check-up. She checked in on me over the phone during this three day in-between to see how I was doing, and when I saw her and Dr. GV on my first check-up they gave me instructions on what I had to do to prevent seroma, which would occur if I wasn't properly compressing the area. I made sure I took care of this. I felt pretty good after the 2nd-3rd day, with some discomfort when sitting down or standing up, but other than that I didn't have much pain. It got better as the days went on.
Now, I'm about 2 months post-surgery, and I'm so happy. After my third check-up, which was roughly a month after the surgery, Dr. GV told me I was healing faster than expected, there were no complications, and I just needed to keep wearing the compression garment. Now, a month since then, all the swelling has gone done, there is still some slight bumps and some unevenness, it isn't that perfect curvy-hip shape, but overall the shape is great! I'm expecting it to get even a little better as the full results are said to only be seen like 3 months or so post-surgery, but all in all, I finally don't have saddlebags, and I'm thrilled.
Loved the entire process, I'm so glad I did it, and I want to thank Dr. Gunasekar and the entire GVG team for being absolutely amazing!!!
