Day of my First Op.

Yesterday was my first op day. Up to this point, Transform have been fantastic. They check in often, the finance approach has been really easy to sort and the turn around from me having my first consultation to now, has been amazing. No waiting around at all. I had my COVID test last week along with some blood tests - everything was fine so yesterday was the day. I'm having abdomen (top and bottom), flanks, upper arms and inner thighs. Yesterday was just abdomen and flanks. I must admit, i was really nervous, but the nurse did a fab job of calming me down and explaining the whole process. I had a shower, slipped into my gown, took painkillers, anti nausea tablets and something to calm me before being whisked off in a wheel chair to the operating room. The Dr drew on my body to mark out the areas needed. I brought my headphones and phone with me so i could watch netflix to distract me. The anaesthetic was probably the most painful part. First there was a sharp scratch, followed by the liquid anaesthetic being pushed around my stomach - this was unpleasant. It didn't hurt the whole time, but every now and then there would be a painful twinge that would really sting. But it was over relatively fast. Then comes the vaser before sucking out the fat - both of these elements again felt fine. No pain, just a weird sensation. I can't really describe it. The flanks were definitely the most painful part. The anaesthetic on these areas just really hurt, but the whole vaser process on my flanks literally took 5 minutes each side. It was all over in 25-30 minutes. After that i got taken back to my room in the wheelchair, where my nurse put a thick foam like padding around my areas to absorb any immediate leakage. I watched tv, had a toastie and felt relatively fine. My stomach was completely numb. I did feel a little queasy afterwards - i put this down to all the pills before hand, the anaesthetic and not eating much. After that the nurse came in and taped up my open wounds with gauze/bandages etc, helped get me into my garment and allowed me some time to put my old scruffy clothes on. My partner was collecting me so i prepped by covering the seat with an old towel, just in case there was any further seepage. Before i went to bed, i noticed the bandages were soaked through, i decided to take off the garment, use this opportunity to go to the loo and replace the bandages with fresh ones. I used old sheets and a towel to lie on in bed. I propped my head up slightly and under my legs as advised. I had to sleep on my back - not something i am use to doing, but managed to get a few hours. Woke up early morning feeling very achy. However, i already feel less swollen. I have been gently massaging around the area just to see if it helps. Have taken my antibiotics this morning and a painkiller. Have tried to walk around the house a little and will see how i get on. My post op is on Saturday so will update again then :)
