Hey girls! I have been following this site for the past few months and it has been so helpful in wanted to share and document my experience in hopes that it may help others! I am 33 years old, 5’2 and 112 lbs. I have always contemplated breast surgery as I was a small 32B prior to kids. My poor boobies shrunk down to nothing after nursing 3 kids and when I quit nursing in August, I found I couldn’t even fill out a 32A. It is so embarrassing! And it’s frustrating to go from a full C cup while nursing to literally nothing now. This journey has happened so quickly. I finally decided to schedule a consult with Dr. Vanderpool on Monday. They had me come in on Wednesday for the consult. We discussed my goals and settled on 450CC for the right and 425CC for the left bc I have slightly more breast tissue on my left side. I must say I am a little concerned they will be too large. I chose the 400/375 initially but the dr recommended stepping up so I am trusting his judgement!

Surgery day and post op day 1

BLA12a
When we decided to go ahead with the surgery at our consult on Wednesday 11/15, the office informed us they had an opening the same week. We left to grab a bite to eat and came back for the pre-op appt. This all happened so quickly but I am thankful to be getting it done before Christmas.

We checked in at 10:30 on Friday, 11/17 and I was taken back to the pre-op room to get my IV started. I met with the OR nurse, the anesthesiologist and Dr. Vanderpool, who marked me up and then I was on my way to the OR for an 11:15 surgery time! I remember feeling groggy and then nothing until the post-op nurse woke me up to take a drink of water. They also gave me a pain pill and some anti-nausea medicine. The doctor told my husband everything went well and he was able to do some things to tweak and even my breasts since they were lopsided. We were headed home by 12:45pm. They encourage you to take deep breaths to move the anesthesia out of your body but it’s hard bc it feels like there’s a bowling ball sitting on my chest! Once I got home, I just camped out in the recliner and slept for most of the day. My parents are helping out with our older kids (7 and 4) and my husband has been amazing with the baby (15 mos).

Today is post op day 1. I got my first peek and snapped a few pics last night. Loving the results so far. They are crazy and rectangle shaped but I know I just have to be patient. The pain is bearable. I have been keeping on top of my pain meds and also keeping ice on it. My chest feels super tight but what I didn’t expect was how much it would hurt under my arms. I slept in the recliner last night bc there is no way I can push off with my arms to sit up from laying down flat. Will probably be in the recliner again tonight but I slept pretty well so that’s ok. I have to keep the bandages on until tomorrow (Sunday) and then I can shower. Will update soon!

Thank you! I went back and forth between excitement and anxiety but whenever I felt doubt creeping in, I would just look at my before pictures and quickly realize I didn’t want to wait any longer for this. I’m also a bit concerned with the kids and how that will go. The baby has been pretty good about letting my husband take care of him but I don’t know how it will be when he goes back to work on Monday. I tried to slightly lift the baby today and I could do it as long as he doesn’t kick or move quickly. I put him down bc I didn’t want to risk dropping him. But I think/hope with another full day of rest, i’ll be ok! Best of luck to you...we just have to trust it’s all going to be worth it!

Roller coaster....

BLA12a
Today’s is post op day 3. Yesterday was great! I felt well enough to get out of the house and go have Sunday dinner with my family. I was able to go longer between taking pain pills. It was nice to see my family (most of them knew of my surgery) and everyone was super supportive! I was a little more tired than usual last night and went to bed pretty early but overall it was a good day. Took a lighter pain pill at 9:30 and fell asleep....

Must have slept pretty well for most of the night. Then I woke up at 4am in so much pain. My left arm was numb and asleep and that side has hurt worse since day 1. I also get a weird stinging and pulling sensation on that side incision if I try to lift my arm or twist the wrong way. It was tough to get out of bed but I used the restroom and took some more pain medicine. Very thankful I wasn’t having to go to anywhere today. Once I got up and around, I have felt a little better but still not as good as yesterday. So many have told me it’s a bit of a roller coaster ride going from feeling great to bad and everything in between. Just ready to start seeing the light on the easier side of things! I have still been taking pain meds today, only 1 about every 5 hours. My husband is going to get me a larger size bra, the one I bought is way too tight and is digging into me. I would like to be as comfortable as possible. Also, I just sat down and noticed this weird bubbling sound in the top of my right breast. So strange! Anyone else have that? Will post some pics soon!
