How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
- Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.
If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

I am currently post op day 7. I downsized from 375cc saline unders to 145/165 cc silicone unders. I had a small lift done too. I am not ready to post pictures yet.
I under estimated the toll surgery would take on me, here are some tips I wish I had been told before! The easy part is having surgery. The hard part is recovery.
Shopping list-
Extra strength tylenol ( you may want to use or switch to these instead of codeine they prescribe you- those codeine pain killers constipated and bloated me)
Gravol just in case , and a laxative ( I did not need a laxative bc I switched to tylenol)
Crackers and bread and broth soups ( the first two days all I wanted was toast and butter and Goldfish crackers)... but then I had a strong Mcdonalds craving day 3 --- it was all I wanted to eat.
Gingerale
A big loose fitting hoodie that zips in the front ( to put on after surgery)
A nice loose fitting pyjama night shirt ( not top and bottom) that buttons in the front , something that makes you feel good. Putting on pants or yoga pants is hard - no pulling remember!
TWO post surgery bras ( you will want to wash them often)
Hand sanitizer by your bed! And paper towels pre cut ( I had red dye all over my stomach and shoulders, I used sanitizer to wipe it off, and wiped my armpits too ( I was a smelly greasy mess...)
Facial toner with cotton pads out and ready to go, I dont know if it was the anastesia or the antibiotics but my face was greasy like vaseline. I actually thought they must have put vaseline on my face during surgery it was that bad.
Have someone come over day 3 to wash your hair! I was a grease factory it was like someone dipped me in oil. Dry shampoo won't cut it.
Tell your partner or care aid to take off the cap to the prescriptions you get because you won't be able to push and screw them off!! Set your alarm as to when you will take the antibiotics or pain killers. I took mine 4 times a day..
I highly recommend if you have young kids to arrange rides to school with another mom, or hire someone to help. I was a zombie the first two days. I could have driven day 5, but I dont think I will drive with a child on board til at least day 8 or 9. It is the car seat buckles that are the hardest. I spoke to other moms on real self they were back to work and driving kids around on day 4. I think it depends on how you feel- for me Im still not ready ( and I thought I would be- which has been frustrating)
Vitamin C for after you are done antibiotics. And a probiotic because your good bacteria will be damaged after the antibiotics. A B12 vitamin too, I have read we are low after surgery.
Have your favorite foods around at arm level and get a big variety- you never know what you will feel like. Resist sugary treats, sugar is an inflammatory. All I wanted was sugar but it made me feel like garbage. I stopped that and Im doing better with cooked veg- Broccoli, cauliflower, veggie chili, broth soups, high fiber foods. I have also been eating Bacon and eggs, high protein, fruit etc. I should have cooked more high protein high veg meals and frozen them.
Have straws and smaller cups- my favorite big glass cups were too heavy to lift with liquid in them! Get straws too. Bringing a cup to your mouth my be difficult
Before surgery -Practice getting in and out of bed and getting comfortable with your arms at your sides, it is harder than you think.
Charge your iphone or phone and computer.
Plan what you will watch on tv or Netflix. I watched 3 seasons of Outlander! Sitting still is harder than you think. For me it was hard when my four year old son wanted to play with me and I had to tell him not to hug or touch me. i cried day 2 wondering why I had done this to my body.
Write out what you expect from your caretaker, my husband had no idea what to do. I texted him when i needed something mostly. I couldnt yell or speak loudly the first two days. My ribs and my throat hurt.
For example
- take dirty dishes away
- get me my favorite starbucks every morning
- bring me flowers
- how and what and when to feed the kids
- how to put kids to bed, bedtime routines
My ribs were so sore the first 5 days , I thought maybe they cracked one! I still dont know why.
If you are impatient and neurotic like me then you may find the wait during the first week pretty painful mentally. I was wrapped up til day 5, and now I have to wait for swelling to go down to see the final result --so a few months til I see the end result. I am no longer allowing myself to look in the mirror a hundred times a day taking pictures. It was getting obsessive.
If you are concerned about something ----- do not search the internet!---- Instead call your PS asap. You pay them the big bucks -and if you are worried- call them. I was concerned of an infection and bothered my PS on a Sunday. I should have called her on the Saturday. Instead I searched the internet and all it did was make me crazy with worry.
You may get post op blues like I did- it got pretty bad yesterday. If you are prone to depression and anxiety it would be worth your while to see your regular GP before surgery to anticipate any anti anxiety or depression medication or therapy needs.
If I think of anything else I will share! My first BA I had no kids so recovery was easier mentally. I find recovery with kids doable but alot harder than I anticipated. When you are used to doing everything then stuck laying in bed, it can be a helpless feeling. Try your best to enjoy the time resting and get lots of rest!
