Platysmaplasty (Double Chin) Procedure - EXCELLENT - Vancouver, Canada

I originally came across Dr. Buonassisi while researching possible surgical and non-surgical alternatives for what is generally referred to as “double chin”. I am a very healthy and active male in my late 20’s, but had noticed an increased amount of fullness in my lower chin area generally as a result of inherited genes. I e-mailed through some preliminary photos via the 8 West website which offered useful education on procedures available and the general processes. As promised, I received a call from Mandy within 24 hours and after a brief discussion and price estimate booked a consultation the following week with Dr. Buonassisi.

The consultation was relaxed, informative and answered all the questions I had after initially visiting the website. Dr.Buonassisi is an extremely knowledgeable surgeon, without any of the “stigma” that can surround physicians and plastic surgeons. The computer imaging provided a conservative and realistic projection of what results would potentially look like. After receiving a written quotation I reviewed that night and booked the procedure the following day. The procedure itself was quick and painless. I remember very little as a result of the twilight sedation and was able to go home within an hour of the operation and had a friend pick me up.

Recovery time and pain was in line with what I was told to expect. The incision is fairly small and hidden well under your chin, and the 8 West staff provided me with instructions on how to clean and change the dressing for the first few days. Wearing the “pressure garmet” is what I found the most uncomfortable aspect of the procedure, although I would describe it as uncomfortable rather than painful. I returned to work after a week and a half and found after one month that the “tightness” feeling on my neck had greatly improved and numbness decreased. I ran a half-marathon just over one month and was lifting weights within two weeks. Overall I would describe the recovery from this procedure as easy and found boredom my biggest problem as someone who lives alone!

My results were far better than was promised and am very happy that I elected to undergo the platysmaplasty procedure. At 8 West the entire staff (Mandy, Angie and Katie) are all extremely easy going, professional and friendly. Dr. Buonassisi is just generally a good guy. When he first looked at my chin during the first follow up, I could see the excitement on his face when he was pleased with the results, a true sign of a professional who is passionate of his craft.
