Dr Wilkie is how a doctor should be - kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, extremely considerate when it comes to dealing with people's personal issues, not just seeing someone as a medical object. The staff - particularly Viveca are fantastic and super caring, it was a pleasure to be taken care of by them. I went to Dr. Wilkie's private practice to get a labiaplasty. I am writing this in case someone reading needs to hear some of this information. I am healthy, and despite for years trying to be okay and comfortable with my larger outer labia (yes, it is not a defect but an average, normal variation of female body parts) I just couldn't get comfortable and it was affecting my self-confidence in annoying and unnecessary ways. Years ago I had thought it might render my parts insensitive or might be very invasive and risky. Not so! After a free consultation with Dr. Wilkie I knew this was absolutely the right place for me - he did not make me feel ashamed about my body like I have a defect, but he was also very comforting and understanding and non-judgemental. Soon after I scheduled the surgery and had it. Now is two months later and I couldn't be happier. The surgery went well, as the other review said he uses a great method for stitching (and actually, they are dissolvable now, so no need to even take them out). The results look natural and great, my healing was actually very quick and unproblematic.

Practical concerns - I was able to get away with NOT having anyone know about this procedure except for folks I wanted to tell. There is no particular pain, but I recommend constant icing in the first few days to week and use Polysporin 3-in-1 liberally. The recovery realistically takes about a week to heal to a workable level, where I could return to most normal activities, no complications, and from there on I felt completely back to normal at 4-5 weeks. Actually I feel more than 'back to normal' - I feel great, confident and so happy with this decision. My vagina looks great, clothes fit better and bonus (sorry for the TMI) - much less sweating and feeling gross during the hotter months down there. All feeling is still there! If you are a woman with larger labia, first love yourself and your body, but if this is causing you tons of anxiety and you've thought about the surgery, this is the best place I'd recommend.
