I finally decided to go ahead with rhinoplasty after disliking my nose for pretty much all my life. I had a rhinoplasty consultation at age 18 with a doctor that left me feeling really bad about myself and the whole idea of cosmetic surgery. So I just gave up on the idea for a few years and then life just got in the way... moving to new country, marriage, baby..etc. So here at 36 I had some time to do something for myself so I researched doctors in my area with lots of real life reviews (thank goodness for real self) and Dr. Buonassisi seemed like the perfect fit. I traveled to see him and was happy with the consultation. He was easy to talk to, honest about what could be done and really wanted to create natural looking results. I booked the surgery a month later. The recovery was not quite what I expected. Less painful than I thought it would be, I didn't even have to take the prescribed pain meds, I opted for Tylenol extra strength which did the trick for me. It was more uncomfortable than anything and I was shocked to see how swollen my nose was after the cast removal. It took about 3 weeks for swelling in the tip to go down to a socially comfortable level. Swelling was the worst at 2 weeks. Thank goodness I didn't have to go back to work by then! I stressed l over the swelling but at 4.5 weeks now there is still a bit of swelling in the tip but I feel comfortable going in public now. I can't wait for the swelling to go down all the way to see the final results. I'm happy with the way it looks now. Overall I'd say it's totally worth it! Wish I had done this sooner. Dr. Buonassisi is amazing and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for natural results. And for any of those who have fears about the pain, it's really not that bad, mostly uncomfortable and as a side sleeper, the elevated sleeping was hard for me. But I used a travel neck pillow to help keep my neck straight for a few weeks. Worth it definitely, just make sure you choose a doctor that feels right to you AND has lots of great 'real' reviews.
I'm so glad that you're happy with your results! What were the most important questions that you asked your doctor before your surgery? We would love to see some before and after photos, would you consider sharing some with the community?
