I'm deciding to share my Rhinoplasty process as it's been something I've been wanting and researching for a few years, and reading reviews from others has helped me along the way to booking my procedure.
Over the years, my nose has grown into a shape that I'm unhappy with. I'm self conscious about my side profile. I have a slight bump on my nose and I believe it sticks out too far. I have a small face, and there are features about my face that I love, like my eyes and my lips, but my nose is too large for my face and doesn't balance well with my small chin.
A friend of mine went to Dr. Andrew Denton in Vancouver for her Rhinoplasty after another friend of hers recommended him based on her experience and she was happy with her results. I did some research online and when I felt prepared for surgery I booked a consultation.
My consultation with Dr. Denton was brief but informative. He asked what my concerns were about my nose, and explained what he would do to fix what I didn't like about it. He gave me details on how long the surgery would take, and what the recovery process would look like. He also took photos and showed computer imaging of what my nose would look like post-op (I'll attach them in this post).
Dr. Denton's receptionist, Esperenza, who was amazing, came in after I met with him to give me details about everything I need to know for before and after my surgery. She was very helpful and answered all of the questions that I had. Since I'm flying in for the surgery, she recommended that the minimum length of days I stay in Vancouver is two, and the cast will come off a week after surgery, so if I wasn't in Van I could remove it myself, or have my family doctor remove it.
The surgery is booked for March 5, and I booked flights for my mother and myself to return home on day 3 post op. I'm not looking forward to flying home so soon after surgery, but my family and friends believe that I will be more comfortable recovering at home.
I will post more photos and updates as they come, and hopefully my experience will help anyone out as well as help me along the way. I'm nervous, but I'm hopeful for a good outcome and a smooth recovery!

Day of Surgery
CowtownGirl2March 6, 2018
Yesterday was my day of surgery and I was very nervous but also so excited. I met the nurses who were assisting me and met with Dr. Denton for final pictures and one last run down of what he will do to my nose before I was taken into the operating room. I was given an IV and drifted off shortly after, everything is a blur but Dr Denton and his staff were so reassuring and they made me feel so safe and at ease. I then went home where I fell asleep for a bit and was very disoriented but shortly after started feeling back to myself. I laid on the couch with my watching Netflix all day and my pain and discomfort have been non existent since I got home from surgery. Nose is bleeding but not very much, I’ve cleaned the nostrils with Polysporin and changed my gauze.
Today I’m more swollen and I’m in a bit more pain but the painkillers are helping and I’ve been icing with frozen corn in ziplocks to get the swelling down. I’ve attached some photos from yesterday, I’ll also post some more pre-op photos as well in the next couple of days.
Looking very forward to seeing the final result and I’m so far feeling very confident in my decision to choose Dr. Denton for my rhinoplasty and his amazing staff!

Day 9 Post Op
CowtownGirl2March 15, 2018
It’s now been two days since I removed my cast and each day I’m little by little getting back into my regular routine. I’ve been very fortunate as my recovery has been extremely easy and painless. I flew home on day 3 post op with no issues and removed my cast myself on day 7 post op like I was instructed to (it glided off easily from the steam of the shower).
Something that has been hard for me is the cleaning of the nostrils/area where the incision was made. Although I’ve been cleaning very gently with an antibacterial ointment I’m always afraid I’m going to pull the stitches apart or accidentally re-open the incision area but it seems to be healing well.
The first day that the cast was off was extremely weird - my nose was so numb and felt heavy on my face. I think that I’m slowly gaining the sensation back in my nose which is nice because I hate the feeling of it being so numb. I’m getting more and more used to looking at my new reflection in the mirror. My nose is still of course swollen but you can see a major difference already. I will attach some photos to this post.
I’m hoping to head to Vancouver in the next few weeks for a checkup with Dr. Denton. I will try to post more updates in the following weeks. This website has saved me during my recovery process!
