Questionable Practice

I have been to see Dr. Jennifer Klauschie 4 times total. My first visit she performed a urinalysis and a bladder scan "post void residual" before ever seeing me or assessing my symptoms. Although she appeared knowledgable and competent I felt uneasy when leaving her facility. I agreed to further testing, a cystoscopy and urodynamic testing, that her office was scheduling 2 more people for at the same time. I thought, that's weird, we all need the same test?

I later canceled my test and did not return to see her. I tried to find a new doctor on my insurance plan but I was not successful and I was referred back to her again in July 2019. I went to see her again and was asked to leave a urine sample, I declined as I had no symptoms. After I saw her I felt so assured that she was the one for me, she was great and so confident, I really felt like she was going to fox all my problems. I was refusing all further testing but she insisted we do the urodynamics so I gave in and agreed. I was scheduled for a 10 am appointment and encouraged to show up with a comfortably full bladder. After holding my pee for over 2 hours and finally at 10:40 I asked how much longer it would be? They said my appointment wasn’t until 11am. At 11:30 I asked again, this time almost in tears due to a spasming bladder! I was taken back a few minutes later.

I followed up for my results of my urodynamics where she stated I have stress incontinence (DUH) and that I was retaining urine, although she didn’t seem sure about that. When we met this time it was almost like she didn’t know who I was at all!!! I was so disappointed, she was unsure if I had any retained urine and I told her I have had 2 post void test performed and both show I had nothing but she insisted we do another. I gave in again. She then said they will schedule for surgery at Four Peaks Surgery Center because if we use a hospital it could take unto 4 hours just to get me prepped and a surgery center will be faster, then she left the room and never returned to talk to me about the post void residual she just insisted we do.

I was moved out to the reception desk where she called the surgery center and put me on the phone, they stated they were out of network and it would cost me $2800.00 and when would I like to schedule, I said no thank you and requested we find a place that is in network. About 2 weeks later they called and scheduled me for JCL and a pre op appointment, another appointment?

I received my bill for the July appointments and I discovered they billed me for procedures that were never performed!!! It does appear as they do a urinalysis and bladder scan on all patent every visit but they did not perform these on me because I refused. When I called they argued with me stating it was done!!! I said “lady, I never even pee’d in that office therefore a post void residual is impossible!” I had to call three way with my insurance representative to have her agree to look into those charges. I have since filed with the fraud waste and abuse website for this practice and I plan on submitting this review to the board of medical examiners too. The age group she sees is older and vulnerable to this practice as they might not look over there bill but just pay them and maybe they done understand you have the right to refuse these un necessary test.

Needless to say I will not be returning to see Jennifer Klauschie or anyone from Academic Urology
